Its a good book indeed. He has other fiction along the same lines, but I also recommend a book of manners he once wrote -- The Unexpurgated Code -- completely wacked, of course. A guide to social climbing - social satire.

Agreed, JP Donleavy was a great comic writer, somewhat forgotten these days unfortunately.

Seven extra years pass. they carry him in for his 2 words. “I provide up,” he says. “That’s no longer stunning,” the elders say. “You’ve carried out no longer something yet whinge for the reason which you acquire here.”

I've heard of him but as an artist, he had an exhibitionion London a few years ago.
