I'm looking for a good novel. I use to read Ken Follet, Tom Clancy, Wilbur Smith, Stephen King novels, and I would like to know other authors or books that contain stories of action, suspence and pathos.
I have also read all the Dan Brown books but I have always been disappointed...

I've heard many late authors were under the influence when they wrote there works. Have you ever tried writing a story under the influence and if you have do you think its helpful or just plain stupid ?

It takes place in the future. The characters uncover a 20th-Century house and interpret the objects they find. Really, they MISINTERPRET the objects they find. That's all I remember about the story. A teacher read it to my class in the 1980's, and I remember it had wonderful illustrations.
Thanks for any ideas.

I have a very short patience for books, but once I find one that pulls me in, I'm hooked. I'm looking for a good fantasy book to read. I really enjoyed Twilight(Stephenie Meyer), The His Dark Materials Series, and of course, The Harry Potter Series. If you have any stories that you loved and would reccomend, please let me know. Thanks :)

Hi, I am 14 and have always wanted to write a book, I think I want to start, but I am afraid that my ideas are close to some books I've read (not to close though.) When I was in 6th grade, whenever my teachers had writting assingments, poems, etc. they used to give me A++'s and on my poems my teachers asked me If I got them off of the internet (which kind of annoyed me.)

When I was 5 I wanted to write a book on a kid who could make toys come alive, but when I was 7 I found out it was already done (Indian in the cupboard). I also like fantasy, battles and all, but not to much. I've always loved narnia, and wanted to write something like it, but with a whole different plot.

I would really love ideas, but only if you are willing to give me a couple sentances of them if you have any, because I don't want to have Ideas from someone who might write a book later on. Another problem I have os critisizm, I can stand constructive, but I am afraid of people saying I ripped off something.

Here's the rub: I am very knowledgeable about the non-fiction subject I am writing about. I own a few websites concerning the subject. I have also played a part in bringing a few other individuals into my fold of knowledge and they have contributed even more to my knowledge. In fact, they VOLUNTARILY give their time to the subject, and have become knowledgeable in their own right! Should I simply dedicate the book to them?? Or is there some kind of etiquette courtesy where I should somehow include them, or just one or two of them, as far as writing a chapter? And if so, do I pay them? Or, do they receive a small share of the royalties?? Or, do I simply have them sign the Release Form that I have asked about in another question, with no expectation of paying them?? I confess that with the amount of work I am doing writing this book, the thought of paying them, or sharing royalties, is hard........but I WANT to HONOR them for what they have contributed to my own knowledge. Ideas?

I was published by poetry.com and their book Timeless Voices. I heard they were a scam so I decided they got 10 bucks from me but that was all they were going to get. Well today I received my book and just as i have read from some other people on here my poem was on the first page. Now my question is am I obligated to pay the money I owe for the book or should I simply send the book back?

In a non-fiction book I am writing, I'd like to include a few personal stories written by the very persons who experienced their story. I know I need a Release Form to prevent them from receiving any royalties from the book. I have no intention of contacting a publisher before I finish the book (I'm waiting until I write the very last chapter), and can't imagine that just any attorney is going to know what I need. I live in a small town. I've also done some googling on the net and can't find a release form for my specific situation. So...bottom line...where do I go for the correctly worded Release Form pertaining to those who contribute to my book??

I was in the doctors office the other day while waiting for my son to be called back when I looked over and saw on the table Ray Lewis on the Front cover of The Sports illistrated magazine looking up w/ his hands like he is praying w/eyes open. I was saying to self what is the meaning of this? Why did he feel the need to take this picture? you see I was living at the time of the murder investigation in Georgia when he was charged yet set free, So my mind went there, Could the Ray Lewis be feeling some guilt from either knowing who really killed those two men? Or did he really kill those men and needed forgiveness from a Higher Power in order to Play better? LOL What do the football fans out there who have seen his picture think of his photo? Open to ALL comments only from those who have seen his photo, The November 2006 issue

I read her "To the Light House", "Mrs Dolloway" and "A Room of One's Own" but I can't go on to the other titles on the shelf. Since I noticed sometime I couldn't comprehend or follow her unique stream of narratives so I stopped reading once in a while, then picked them up to read again. Any ideas of understnding more on her ways of writing or the 'message' she attempted to convey to her readers? I know she's a great writer and I read her essays with delight and appreciation. Again I always feel sorry for her untiming passing away.
