I am currently writing a fiction novel, and have about a third finished. Also, I have found myself writing a screenplay. I walk around with multiple storylines in my head, but cant ever seem to get them down on paper. I am not a professional writer obviously, and have to hold down a job, but when I do get on the PC, I find myself distracted and cant get the writing underway. Any help or advice from aspiring novelists out there? Thanks.

I am only 13 yrs old but i have a theory...

Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ago there was a HUGE giant ball of extremely hot gas (a very powerful star, with more energy than anything existing now...) that was constantly losing energy (like how everything is). One day it had much too little energy to contain it's size that it exploded (The BIG BANG). Little bits of the star was scattered around space, the hotter pieces with more energy caused stars. The smaller pieces with less energy caused planets. Because these stars and planets had equal force pulling inwards from the middle of them they formed a rounded sphere shape. And this is how planets and stars were formed.....phew! I asked my science teacher but he didn't know.

I had to read -and loved- 'The Scarlet LEtter'; 'Frankenstein'; 'Gulliver's Travels'; 'Tess of the D'Ubervilles' and many more but would never have known them unless I had to write an essay on them. Please give me a top two or three rating for books like these that I will otherwise never read...

Normally a good novel (especially mystery or thriller) is often said to be "tightly plotted". What does it mean? In contrast what does "loosely plotted" mean?

Please give example in your explanation.

I have read somewhere that John Grisham is a master plotter and all (or most, if not all) of his novels are tightly plotted. What does it mean?
