The worst book I ever read was "The Taking" by Dean Koontz. The plot revolves around extraterrestrial soul sucking fungi -- Yes, extraterrestrial soul sucking fungi...The most horrible thing about it was that, even though it was truly awful, I couldn't stop reading it until I'd finished the entire disgusting thing.

hey VA Mamma me too !!! Well many ppl say that Charles Dickens is a good author which i kind of agree. But there was once when i really hated him for writing the book Great Expectations.I was kinda young and my elder brother was as usual boasting how smart he was and how dumb i was.Feeling annoyed i told him that i could be smarter than him. So i foolishly agreed a bet made by him that if i read the whole Great Expectations book and explained was it was about to him he would admit being stupider than me.Well i WAS young and i tried reading it but i just couldnt get it.So in the end my idiot of a bro won the bet which made me hate Charles Dickens for a moment until i could forget about that humiliation i suffered

Ocean Sea, I even cannot remember the author, it was said that the author was a bestselling author according to New York Post or something. Read only less than a quarter of it. It's about a bunch of insane people who put together in a sort of mental rehabilitation clinic or motel. I am not sure what kind of place it is because they are talking in insane ways. So much different to my healthy mind..lol!

Anyway, that book is still on my book shelf. Personally, I want to throw it to trash bin. But then I want to put it in my collection too. So, when I want to show my collection to other people, I can say,"Ok, this is great. This one is good enough. And this is Ocean Sea, I am sure you don't even want to touch it."

I read a book about a year ago called The Rule of Four. I had thought it was a good book until near the end. The ending totally ruined the whole thing for me. It sucked.

Bridges of Madison County. I know everyone else loved it, but it did nothing for me. I think my disappointment was amplified by the fact that the book was so hyped and lead to high expectations. It's the only book I actually regret buying.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Throughout the whole thing I kept waiting for something to occur, something out of the blah-ness of the words, but it never came. I'd kept hoping 'till the end, that there'd be this big unexpected development or conclusion, but no. Dull, dull, dull. And the movie was worse.

It's called Dead Hand, and I forget the author. I was on a trip to San Francisco and got it at the airport (was flying from D.C.) The idea sounded cool, but I only got about 1/10 of the way through becuase the writing was terrible and he was actually repeating himself.

No offense to Oprah, but I had to read Anne McDonald's "Fall on Your Knees" for a fiction class and it is by far one of the worst texts that I have ever read. It is not poorly written, but it does not appeal to me in anyway.

He never called again by Rose Quintillana. I ordered it off of Amazon because it sounded so interesting. But when I read it, I was floored by the amount of blatant spelling & grammatical errors.
Later, I found out that the author published it herself & forged reviews on Amazon. Oh, the treachery!

I would probably like it if I read it again, but I was FORCED to read "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens in high school. I think perhaps I hold a grudge against my English teacher, but it's easier to just say I didn't like the book. I DO like Dickens' other books, but this one is just harboring bad memories.
