I absoloutley adore Dumbledore!
He is so intelligent and all knowing and you could go to him with any problem and know that he would be able to fix it! You know that he cares and wants to help you...he's just like an old grandfather. He knows EVERYTHING!! He has the look thats see's right through you!! When things are bothering harry he always knows even when harry wont admit it. His sense of humour is GREAT!! There are rough times but he is always so pleasant and up for a laugh, this makes him so much more human!! If he had no sense of humour and just knew everything then he'd be like a robot!! He always stays so calm and collected in tense situations and never looses his head when students do something wrong(wouldnt we all love a headmaster thats that understanding!! haha) I have to admit that I cried for soooo long when he died!!!:(:(
I also love Sirius and Lupin!! They are quite cool!! I also cried when Sirius died because he was my favourite after Dumbledore!!

Fave: The Weasly Twins
why? because they have a knack for ligtening the mood in almost any situation. Like when Umbrige was punishing Harry, the twins punished her back in a way that amused the ENTIRE school including the teachers. Also, they are really really smart. all the things they invented are really cool, hermionie even says so in the 6th book.
2nd: Dumbledore.
why? He's soo smart but he doesn't let on about it. He alows himself to have fun even though times are dark. Even in the simplest ways, he is amusing, like funny passwords or making little jokes at the start of term feast. and at the same time, he is alert and intelegent no matter what and succesfully calculates almost all outcomes of a given situation to acheive what he wants.
3rd: Fawks
why? I know he isn't a human character but then again neither is Dobby. I just love the fact that he is so enduring to the point that he can be re-born from his ashes. also, it's great how loyal he is to Dumbledore. He is uncanilly smart for a bird and knows that when Harry is dying from basalisk poison all he needed was for Fawks to cry on him and Fawks did it. And he knew to peck the basalisk's eyes out to give Harry a fighting chance.
These characters are my favorite even though they are off the beaten path. Harry Hermionie and Ron are great too but you see so much of them that they become your favorites anyway.

Lupin of course!! I love Lupin!! I don't like Tonks very much just because JK is making her go out with Lupin... But my other favorite characters are Sirius Black, Severus Snape, and the Weasley twins.

I love Tonks. She is lucky to have the coolest hair and styles and being able to change it at her command. That'd be awesome! Plus, her and Lupin are totally in love and I like Lupin a lot. I think if I were a character I would be Tonks too because I am just most like her.
The top five is: Tonks, Fred/George, Sirius, Lupin, and Malfoy.

Sirius is really cool, especially in the later books.
For the ordinary, good friend guy I have to go with Ron Weasley.

like the man said, they are a team... they count as one.
the weasley twins. funny and brilliant, with a very practical view of life, they personify the virtues of all the houses. brave as griffendores, smart as ravenclaws (though the grades don't reflect it, the accomplishments do), ambitious as slitherins (no mundane civil service ministry jobs for them, they want to make galleons!) and although they may not be as hard-working as hufflepuffs at schoolwork, at real work they are tireless. and also loyal as any hufflepuff.
i sometimes wonder if jk will kill them in the final book. the backstory info on her site suggests that molly and arthur had both lost plenty of loved ones "the last time". and they are clearly baiting voldemort with their "u no poo" ad in diagon alley...
but you know what would be worse than killing them?
killing only one of them. what's fred without george and vice versa? that would be a real tragedy... they count as one character...
