I'm totally new to wood carving and sculpting. Bought a block of balsa wood. My rough model looks so ugly. I can see all the holes of the balsa wood. Those tiny tiny holes which the water and nutrients seep through from the roots. How about basswood?

I used these 3 pics:

To composite this:

What do you think?
The lighting seems a bit off to me, any suggestions on how to fix that?

I'm using Photoshop CS3 with masks

Thanks!

Many of us had religious beliefs or reasons for going to Nam and risking our lives but you know what that did not matter to Unce Sam. In Clays case he played the religious card and race card at the same time. i think he is a disgusting individual who chickened out. Its one thing to get into a ring with a less worthy opponent but another thing to confront an armed enemy in the jungle. Hate to burst your bubble on this charactor.

Yes! It is true…the world must become a better place. Yes! It is true…there is suffering…there is pain…there is worry…there are mistakes…there is violence…there is denial of God amongst us…within us. Yes! It is true. But what is our responsibility? Is it to blame another? Is it to criticize? Is it to hide our faults… or should we just ignore and continue our selfish lives?

*****
It's raining lunch

Currents form deep,
Krill layers, temperature gradients,
Warm, then cold on warmer,
Saline piston, Gulf Stream driver,
What’s in the water is the ocean.
Codfish dominion, Baleen Whale,
And the Shark, master of all of it,
Lobster, Halibut, King Crab
Harvest their meals from the carnage above.

*****
Whale of a Bone

Baleen Sounders
Echoes, searching
Krill and plankton masses
Gulping seawater, nourished
Great Blue, Humpback
Breaching mass
Whale song, piercing shriek
Calling out, sobbing
Whale wail, long mating call
Tones ascend high, higher
Deep, black shadow
Steel up to her, penetrate
“Ouch! That’s not a girl! That’s a submarine!”

I am starting out in a class learning on a 35mm manual but know that I will eventually graduate to digital (and I will take those classes as well). However, I cannot afford to pay over $1000 for a digital camera.

Are there digital's out there for around $500 that take quality pictures?

Thanks
Lane

The other night while we were sleeping
My wife says hunny someones peeping
I told her to go back to bed
I never heard just what she said

She got right up and went outside
She searched around and circled wide
Then I'm hearing someone yelling
Who is there, there's no way telling

But now he's in a strangle hold
And pretty soon, he'll be out cold
I start to pry away her fingers
He's looking blue, his life now lingers

I think she's watching too much wrestling
She's seen those holds, that now she's testing
The cops got here and jumped right in
Thats better then what could have been

From what the cops saw going here
And from what she said I could not hear
I quess they were not too impressed
Cause he was clothed, and her undressed

When I resize a color photograph from say 44MB to 844KB what does that do to the resolution.....if anything?

What harm does it do to resize my photo's in order to save disk space on my computer?

I have a lot of pictures that are more than 1MB in size....some are 44MB or larger.

I need the disk space but I don't want to degrade my photo's, help me here....besides recommending that I download them to another disk that is.....I know that's an option.

But my question is simply this. Does "resizing" a picture degrade the picture quality or resolution?

We are all high as a kite, yet most don't even know who their pusher is. The authorities would ban this drug if they could see it for what it is. Thing is, they're all just as high as the rest of us. My appeal is that we all learn to recognize the spectrum of what's offered...then choose for ourselves the drugs we want. And make no mistakes, you must take the drug! We all live in the same drug infested house. I can usually be seen off in a corner...injecting Nietzsche.

I'm an avid concert goer, and take my digital camera with me when I go. I find that, with the combination of flashy lights, lots of movement, and crowded space, my pictures/filming turn out fairly decent, but not as good as it could be. Could anyone recommend to me strategies they have when it comes to taking pictures at live concerts.

I'd also like to mention that I take pictures when it is appropriate (ie the venue allows it) which is very rare.

What prompts a person to renounce worldly life?

God said; "my SPIRIT cannot keep man alive forever. Because he is also Flesh. This seems to mean; that the spirit is "not" eternal if the spirit is combined with flesh. That would indicate that when the flesh dies the spirit dies too.
Can someone show me where it says the spirit is eternal. I do not mean some biblical opinion. I want it to say "god said it".

I don't know what museum but it was relatively small, two floors with a reddish interior... full of Renaissance portraits. It was possibly the only landscape painting there and it was sort of... a rocky area, i think a waterfall and a stunning rainbow. It had a gorgeous contrast between the light and dark areas and i've been wondering about it for a year! Please help!
