To most, Truth is what they "think" it to be. Even if it is false!

I always thought it was "beauty" that was in the eye of the beholder?

However, let's say that it's truth and see where we end up.

If you look at the common version of this saying... it means that beauty can mean different things to different individuals. Correct?

So, if we substitute beauty for truth, it would mean that truth can mean different things to different people. Which is more interpretation than truth. Truth is absolute; by definition... (not talking about false truths) so I personally don't see how it can fit into this context. So, I would argue that the statement doesn't hold up.

Now "does it hurt"? is a different question... and I would say that truth can absolutely hurt... because I have felt it before, but that; truly, depends on the truth in question.

However, is it the truth that is hurting you, or, how you handle dealing with the truth that is causing the pain? Because if we determine that it is not the truth that is causing the pain, but your own way in coping with the truth. Then fundamentally the truth does not hurt.

The truth (which truth do you mean, any truth?) is specifically NOT in the eye of the beholder. It is what it is, whether or not any one beholder or all of them can see it.
