What makes your life meaningful, and is there a such thing as one? and is there a greater goal then a good life, and what obstacles are we faced with in pursuit of a meaningful life? Would education play a role in if your life was meaningful. Any thoughts?

Why do some people just assume that all male ballet dancers are gay. I know that some male dancers are gay just as some women dancers are gay. I don't mind the steroytype, but I just would like your opinion.
Thanks-

I am not sure of what role to audition for in my Seussical auditions. I am a girl, and I sing fairly well soprano and alto. I would rather a lead, just because we're doing this at a middle school, and this is my last year at the school. I'm not an amazing dancer, but I can pull it all together. I also want a role that I can have a lot of fun with. What do you think?

I'm 12 yrs old, soprano (D3-E6) and the director is using http://www.broadwayjr.com/audition/auditionlist.asp?ID=15. I'm going for alice, definitly.

The problem is, I'm singing the song Home from The Wiz, and I don't know if I should belt it (stronger) or do it in mix/head voice(prettier, more "alicey"). it says choose your strongest singer/actor for alice.

HELP!

I am currently reading the play "Othello" and need some help on what the theme of the play is. I was told that the play was a metaphor for love brings harmony, but i don't think so. If anyone could just give me an idea of what they think the theme is, that would be great.

Placards of Sunday papers for years used to wail about the state of health of the project. Were they on to something after all ?

"1.The rationing of health care is an economic imperative, and cannot be avoided.
2.Since the very notion of rationing health care is taboo on our society, the necessary rationing must be done, and is being done, covertly - that is, without acknowledging that any rationing is occurring.
3.Covert rationing fundamentally works by applying coercive pressure to the focal point of all health care spending, namely, the physician-patient encounter. Thus, the final common pathway for all covert rationing must be - can only be - destruction of the doctor-patient relationship.
4.Loss of the doctor-patient relationship is fatal to the medical profession, life-threatening to patients, and debilitating to society.
5.The key to defeating covert rationing, and all the evils that flow from it, is to restore the doctor-patient relationship. "

I'm auditioning for Seussical Jr. at a local community theatre. They're looking for ages 7-18, and I'm 15. I know the director really well (I just got done doing a show with her) and she really likes me. She has actually said that she could see me as Gertrude and that I had the right kind of voice for it. So I'm going for Gertrude.

I'm thinking about singing "I Can Hear the Bells" from the Broadway musical 'Hairspray'. She [the director] likes this musical, and doesn't care if we sing an overdone song. (Although it's not really that overdone around here.) Does it seem like a good fit for Gertrude? If not, does anyone have a better suggestion? (If you suggest anything from 'Wicked' you will NOT be getting best answer lol)

From my experiences, life just sucks. Happiness for me is not achievable - unless in the form of medication. Life is nothing more then a world of misery, pain, and suffering. So why does anyone want to live? I embrace death. I live my life hoping to die. In have tried to kill myself so I can leave this living hell, but it doesn't seem right. A car hitting me or getting cancer seems better.

But why does anyone want to live? Life has no benefits

Okay, I just would like to know if you know what objectivism is and it would be great if you helped out here, because I'm not quite getting it. Explain it plz and I was also wondering why in the world would anyone follow such a selfish philosophy (like any benefits in it for me or somethin)? If it indeed is a selfish philosophy?

Thank you so much

You have to believe one because both cannot be correct
Science: Humans have evolved from primates.
Evidence- Fossil records, anatomy (tail bone in humans), genetic data (Humans and primates share 99% of their DNA)

Religion: Adam and Eve were created by god as the first Humans.
Evidence- The Bible

I am confused as to who to believe....

This two-year old has fooled the art world into buying and exhibiting his paintings. The 'experts,' say the papers, were falling over themselves to acclaim them. Does this tell you something about 'modern art?' If a two-year old can fool the 'experts,' are works by Picasso and others just mad splashings of paint on canvas as well? I'm no lover of modern art, and I'm told that's because I can't understand its meanings or the meaning of the individual paintings, but I know what I like and what I consider rubbish. Opinions on Freddie and the other 'masters' please.

Descartes said, I think therefore I am.

Is it an absolute truth? If you realise you are thinking, the act of realising proves that you exist. Inevitably, by proving you exist you also prove that something outside you exists.

Or is there a way around it? The reason why I'm asking is that cogito is one of the very few things I believe in nearly 100%, have been wondering if there are flaws.

I guess it's safe to say I'm a 'writer.'

I have this unnatural 'need' to put my pen to paper.

It's almost addicting.

I've been on the search for LEGITIMATE writing contests. However, the search usually ends with me scratching my head at yet another dead-end.

Any possible leads finish with 'more-than-fishy' circumstances: (Social Security Number, Credit Card number, and sometimes they ask for a hefty amount of cash, all in the hopes that they 'might' read my poem/short story within the following 'months.')

Whether they were an actual threat I don't know, but I stay clear of those.

I've even heard about possible 'cash' prizes for works of fiction.

Yes I like to write, but to possibly make money for doing something I love? It's a no-brainer. I don't want to sound cocky, but I feel I have what it takes to win 'something.'

So, I'm turning to my fellow 'Yahoo!' users for help: Any LEGITIMATE writing contests with 'cash' prizes?

Yes, the money would help!!!

Okay, a bit of an exaggeration to call it anarchist, but it has a bit of that feel to it amid the romance, tragedy and imagery. I love the poem now that I've heard Loreena McKennit bring it to life, but thinking about the portrayal of "the red coat troop"... it moves me in a way I can't really describe.
The portrayal is so ominous and almost ironic to me when it is stressed that these are " 'King' George's men"...
Any thoughts, opinions? Asterisk-ridden rants about how terrible I am at interpreting the poem?

I recently started talking to my mom's side of the family again. (We have only spoken a few times in the last 20 years, since my mom's funeral actually). So, I saw an advert for this site and I starting putting in all the info, then I asked my Gram and she has a chart with 12 generations already mapped out that she is going to mail me. How do you chart your family tree? Do you use a book to record everything? I am really excited!
