This may sound stupid, but were they Indo-European or African or what? Just curious.

They were north African until invaded by the Greeks and then they become Greek. One Pharaoh was black and some were Berber who were white. So the Egyptians were truly colour blind.

They were Egyptian. Except the ones who were actually Greek, like Cleopatra.

The ancient Egyptians were Semites...like the Hebrews (something they don't care to acknowledge...say they're Arabic), Assyrians, Hittites, and other ancient ME folks.
