I am not sure of what role to audition for in my Seussical auditions. I am a girl, and I sing fairly well soprano and alto. I would rather a lead, just because we're doing this at a middle school, and this is my last year at the school. I'm not an amazing dancer, but I can pull it all together. I also want a role that I can have a lot of fun with. What do you think?

Gertrude is more of a lead, Mayzie is also fun. Sour Kangaroo is sassy but almost always cast as african american. "The bird girls" are a small chorus of 3 girls (or however many) who sing a lot of the music in between scenes that move the story along. They have to be strong singers who can harmonize. It may be a thankless role but I certainly remember them as being good and strong singers. They also sing in at least a handfull of numbers that the rest of the chorus does not. (For those who always like to correct me on things like this, it ALWAYS depends on the productions that you have seen or been a part of. Each director has their own way of doing things, there is no ONE way of doing it so ease up)

for my last year of middle school, i sang the lead and it was great...i think you should go for the lead..its your last year and you should enjoy it...try it and if it doesnt work out, you can still get a another role in the play...but again...i think you should go for the lead!

go for the roll you want. If you want lead go for it.
Even if you don't get lead, if your talented they'll probably find a place for you somewhere else
