How should I advertise my services? There are only about 3 weeks of summer break left and I don't have money to advertise in the papers, but I live in a small community and I thought I could post flyers at the post office and laundromat. What should I include on the flyer, and how much can I charge? I was thinking somewhere between $7-10 per hour. Is that reasonable, seeing as how I'm an adult with two school age children and training in dealing with children, as well as first aid and CPR certification?

I'm an atheist, but I firmly believe in the notion that if praying to a higher power makes someone happy, I have to right to try to convince them to stop. However, there are a lot of atheists who outright bash theists for beliving in a higher power. Same for theists bashing atheists for not believing in a god or gods, even though it makes us happy. Even between two different religions, or two different sects of the same religion, people are killed in attempts to prove a point. What exactly do you think it is about religion that makes it so hard for people to accept the opinions of others, as opposed to other areas of life like politics, films, or food, where differing opinions are not met with nearly as much hostility?

So many people I know or have met in my life seem to live their whole lives in the tradition of their parents, got married because their parents expected them to, chose a certain profession because their parents wanted it for them, had kids because their parents wanted grandchildren, etc...? Do you think that it we "owe" our parents. I can see if they foot the bill for college and afterwards the kid just lays around and does nothing (unless the kid didn't want to go to college). But don't you think it is the parents' responsibility to raise us, provide for us, until we are of legal age, without expecting anything in return.
