i think a major reason is the salary cap. even the worst football teams can compete the next year (i.e. New Orleans Saints from '05 to '06). the bad teams can also get that 'name' player in the draft and change everything instantly (i.e. Vince Young & the Titans).

baseball is a better sport but the draftees take so long to develop and the rich teams eat up all the good free agents, the lack of hope in the bad teams markets drain the excitement.

It's because football season is much shorter than baseball, so football fans generally don't get bored. Baseball season is 7 months including playoffs. Football is only 5 months, but actually it's played only once each weekend - a total of 24 games. Baseball has 162 games plus playoffs.

Sorry, as mich as I love baseball, football is a better sport. There are just too many baseball games involving too many whiners. While I admit football isn't exactly full of upstanding and law-abiding citizens (i.e. Cincinnati Bengals), I'm so sick of hearing about a baseball player who goes on the DL because of a broken pinky, or an ingrown toenail and the like, all while 'earning' 10 million. Football players play with broken bones every game, for pete's sake and make far less than their baseball counterparts. And I'm way more interested in the strategy of football than whether or not to throw a curve or changeup. I'll always love baseball, after all it's the summer tradition, but I'll always love football more. Sorry again.

Having only 1 game a week it's easier to hype up a football game as having a ton or importance opposed to baseball where they play between 5 & 6 games a week. Also there is the gambling and fantasy aspect to the NFL that plays a big part in it's popularity.

It is more rare of a game. In baseball, a lose is a lose, but in football they only play 16 games so it's more rare,in baseball you know your going to lose games, but in football, a good team might go 16-0 or 15-1.

I think it depends on where you live. I've been to more St. Louis Cardinals games than any other team and most of the fans are into the game, know what's going on and most of all they stick around whether the game is "over" or not. I'm not saying St. Louis doesn't like its Rams, but the baseball experience is definitely different there than compared to the Colorado Rockies which is another team whose stadium I've visited.

well, futbol (soccer) is the most popular sport in the world, but American football is most popular here in the U.S. because it is a contact sport, and baseball, is deemed as a sissy sport. However, actual fans know otherwise. I would like to see mike vick take a 97 mph fastball in the shoulder, or take out a shortstop when your stealing second. Anyway, thats the best answer I can give you.

i agree baseball is better but if ur not a hardcore fan the baseball game seems much slower and less action packed than a football game to the common fan

well one problem is that football stadiums are much larger than baseball stadiums

even when the two are played in he same stadium (Dolphins stadium for ex.) the baseball setup takes up more space and takes out seats.
