I was employed through a temp service for contract-to-hire work at a call center. After 5 months of work (which was 2 months past the date they said I would be hired), I recieved a call one night saying the "assignment" had ended. Since then, it's been a total run-around with the temp service. They won't return my calls or emails; it took over a week to get my last paycheck, now they're withholding my personal items. I've asked they mail them to me, but have not recieved any kind of acknowlegment of my request or my items, and no one's returning my messages. Should I contact a lawyer or go through the department of labor?

I am teaching a 2 and a half year old boy to swim. We go almost weekly to the pool and he does very well wearing a floatation vest. In the vest, he kick himself around in deep water and will jump (assisted) into the pool.

However, I am not sure how to get past using the vest. I feel he has become dependent on the vest and may be promoting some bad habits (for example, he does a 'walking kick' to move around in deep water, rather than a butterfly kick). I am having a hard time teaching him the things he needs to know, like holding his breath, taking breaths above water, using his hands and feet together to wade, etc. I have been trying to get him away from the vest, but he really struggles without it (he sinks like a stone).

One note, the boy is delayed due to neglect from his biological parents. He is not 'disabled', but his comprehension is more like that of a 24 month old (6-12 months behind).

Any ideas on how to get him swimming would be great.

I would like to know why alot of people when asked about China do not approve of their politics, humanitarian rights, public health etc? Im not Chinese myself but I have visited the country over 8 times and I can not find one thing wrong with it, infact the country impresses me. I mean after being invaded continuesly by Japan and after undergoing cival wars etc, they have got back on their feet very fast and are now the second richest country in the world with 10 trillion total GDP. I know some people dont like the Chinese government because it is Socialist but to be honest the whole socialist aspect in China is taken very lightly compared to the Former USSR for example. Its basically like a Capitalist Republic with Sociallist ideas that most Chinese people do not have a problem with. I could not imagine China, being such a huge country in many ways be NOT socialist. I love the country and I enjoy going there whenever I can.

This involves my mother, 87 years. She was making a left turn and got into the left turn lane too early. An oncoming car blew his horn; my mother realized her mistake, moved into the lane on her right, then made her left turn correctly. Unbeknownst to my mother, the “oncoming car” followed her to her destination (a friend’s house). About two minutes later, a police officer came to the house and gave my mother a ticket for reckless driving. The officer said the driver of the “oncoming car,” who said he is a doctor, insisted that the officer issue the ticket to my mother. She has a court date on Aug. 8.

One, can a citizen insist that a police officer issue a ticket when the police officer wasn’t present at the scene of the “violation?”

Two, should my mother hire a lawyer?

Three, I’m urging my mother to plead “not guilty.” Is this the right thing to do? She’s not a reckless driver. She made a mistake (probably because it was a new route for her as her regular route was under construction).

Four, my mother has a 100% clean driving record. No tickets, no accidents. Is she in danger of losing her license?

I have a guy friend, who I met a few years back. We get along pretty well and such. He never seemed like a pervert like some guys I see. However one incident made me question that:

One day he came over, it was just me and him, parents had gone out. We were chilling in my room, listening to music from his Ipod, however the night before I was up VERY late, so I slowly fell asleep.

Before I had fallen asleep, he had left to go talk to someone on his phone. Initially, I was sleeping with my face towards the chair he was sitting in. A little while later I turned my body around, with my back to his chair.

As I was napping, I felt a slight tug on my jeans. Figuring it was the wind or something, I kept napping. Then I felt a snap on my back, as if my underwear just got snapped. Still, nothing I thought.

Then, I could have sworn, I felt something cold, like a finger, go down my underwear and then the top of my underwear was being pulled, exposing my crack.
