I took my daughter to see Finding Nemo when she was about 8 months. She loved it. It was a great experience and gave me a break for a bit. I brought her in her car seat and just sat it in the seat next to me. It didn't cost anything for her since most theatres have a no charge for children under 2 or 3 years. There is nothing wrong with bringing your baby to a movie. If she tolerates it well, it can be a great experience!

Does your baby sit and watch movies at home.. For 2 hours at a time. ? Go to a really early showing, generally not many people will be there so if she cries you can leave.. You may have to have her in your lap unless the theater is handicap then just put her stroller where a wheelchair would go and sit beside her...Good luck

I think you should wait until it comes out on DVD. I used to take my very well behaved infants, who I nursed, to the movies in the afternoon. I would go to see what I wanted to see. There were very few people there and usually my baby would either sleep in my arms or I'd nurse them to sleep. Once they were older, movies were reserved for times I had a sitter. Ratatouille is not a "baby's first movie". And 8 months old is far too young. If you are bound and determined to go - see a Disney cartoon.

Usually it does not cost anything for children under 2 or 3. You can put her either in the stroller or on your lap, I guess it just depends on her mood. If she's happy, you can leave her in the stroller next to you, but if she's screaming, then on your lap would be better. Make sure you bring in a bottle and a pacifier for her, just in case.

maybe if you went during the day when there are few people there, and chose a spot where not many people around you.go when she is tired, and feed until she falls asleep. if you sit near the entrance you can always pop out for a few minutes. it may be a little unsettling for her,but if you are confident she will sleep through it,without crying and disturbing others, then i don't see why not.
Edit- i live in UK,and a friend with a baby recently told me that movie theaters here hold special parent and baby times some mornings. thats so cool!

I have 4 kids and with the last 2 I took them as little as 6 months old not to see the movie but so there brother's could and they usually just fell asleep. If you are taking her so that you can see it just take her around nap time bring a bottle and plenty of snacks and it will be fine.

I only go to the movies when my 8 month old is asleep. Children under 2 should not watch televsion or movies. It's known to cause attention issues, and in rare (but serious) instances, cause seizures.
Personally, I think it's rude to take a stroller into small spaces. Strollers should be for long walks only in open areas. Always hold your baby when you can.

As fun as it sounds, the theater is loud and may scare her a bit, and if she begins to 'talk' during the movie, people may get irritated. Why dont you rent a movie from Blockbuster until the one you want to see comes out on video?

I assume you are taking her so you can see it. Don't expect her to get anything out of it. She may be frightened by the noise. If she starts to cry please take her out of the theater. It's not fair to everyone else. Plan on holding her. A stroller would block the aisle. They probably won't charge for her.
