The rule of thumb is you can lose about two pounds a week safely, but a lot of people lose a lot more than that when they start out. It's possible to lose as much as 25 pounds in the first month (just bear in mind not even the most hard-core dieters and exercisers lose that much in a month). After after that you'll slow down until you're losing right around that two pounds a week. You should also know that you'll lose less weight the closer you get to your "ideal" weight. The important thing about setting goals is to make them realistic so you don't feel like a failure if you don't make it. A realistic goal would be 35 pounds in four months. If you lose more than that through diet and exercise, GREAT!!!

With you weighing more, trying to lose more..than say myself a little chic trying to lose 10-15 lbs..you'll see more weightloss results quicker. Healthily, you may lose 1/2 of that 65 lbs in 4 mths. But that doesnt mean eat less, work out more, or anything..It'll mean it's working.
ADVICE -
*Drink LOTS of water. All day everyday i drink water. Occasionally i'll have a cocktail or beer on the wkends. Vitamin waters, energy drinks, juice, etc. has lots of sugar, that will in time, in your body turn to fat.
*Buy 100% whole wheat bread, brown rice (which i even think taste better than white), whole wheat pasta, nuts. These are all better altnernatives for you.
*Veggies - i do carrots and light ranch, green beans with little bacon pieces, spinach in pastas (you cant even taste it), chopped onion and tomatoes in my sandwiches. Add veggies as MUCH as you can. If you cook, think of it as a fun challenge.
*Fruits - instead of dessert after i eat, i grab 1/2 peach, or a bunch of grapes. This way i get my sugar cravings, but in a more healthier nutritious way.
*Meats - *red* meat is okay here and there. Try getting lean turkey and ham slices, tuna, salmon, shrimp, chicken.
*Sleep is important - 7-9 hours is ideal for your body to recoop and be energized in your day.
*Do exercise - 3-5 times if you can. Walk and run as you say you're doing. Alternate if you'd like. Go on a trail and walk, then jog for 5 mins, then walk again. Bring a buddy or take a dog out with you..(hah if you have a dog) and try going uphill to parks, or even on the beach (if accessible). Buy some different weight in dumbbells and lift in your living room. Because it's important to have cardio as well as weight-train. I alternate what i do everytime i work out.
3500 calories = 1 lb. Read this to understand HOW to lose weight, and keep it off in addition.

You can work out alone, yes..but i gave you some healthy info for eating in hopes of you being filled with more nutrious foods. I've started working/eating healthy again a couple wks ago and have noticed more energy, and cooking has been fun. Good luck.

You're probably going to need a doctor's help with this. There are drugs on the market that can suppress your appetite and while they won't say they'll give you these kinds of results, they do, at least in mine and my sister's personal experiences (check out Adipex). If you don't want to go that route, I would suggest doing the Slim-Fast plan. Sounds hokey, but it can be done. Water and exercise are a must. You can email me if you want more info.

wow you sound like me a few years ago. I don't think you can lose that much safely. maybe about half that much weight. you should count on losing 2-3 lbs each week, with maybe a bit more the first couple of weeks. the slower you take it off, the better you'll do keeping it off. good luck! if I could do it, you certainly can.

If you put your mind to it and exercise hard, and calculate the amount of calories you lose daily, of course you can :)

that would mean you would have to loose 16.25 lbs a month. It's not impossible, but it would be pretty hard unless you really commit to dieting and exercise.
