If we have scientific evidence of the dinosaurs and the ice ages, why does carbon dating not support the story of Noah's Ark? If we can find lost cities that were destroed by volcanos why can't we find the city destroyed by god?

Well, Noah's Ark is pointless to look for because the story rests on a global flood, which is impossible and would have left other evidence, none of which has been found. So while there are still people looking for an ark, you really have to just pity their dogmatic silliness.

On the other hand, stories like Sodom and Gamorah could be based on real events, but buried under layers of legend. For example, Jericho was an actual walled city and has been found. Of course, the walls weren't destroyed by trumpet blasts, but a loud procession going on for days could have distracted guards from the work of underminers.

Update for those who think "Noah's Ark" has been found atop a mountain: no, you need to do some catch up. There have been several claims, all have proven to be nothing on further investigation.

Brian: That's not what we find. We find areas where localized events or periods of acretion preserved some fossils for a period of time. These are distributed over many very different time periods, going all the way back to the Cambrian with all of the trilobites and even the pre-Cambrian with only the simplest of forms. There is no single global layer.

Some believe they actually have found the cities. But there is no sign saying "Welcome to Sodom, the town destroyed by God since 2000B.C.!"

So we are not sure if these ruins are just that, ruins, or the destruction of God.

Also, about the Ark many believe it's on a mountain in Iran, mount Ararat. There is a large, pertrified wood structure. I am not sure if they've done carbon dating or not.

It's in Turkey, sorry...well some say Iran some say Turkey, not sure...but more go with Turkey so I will too lol. Anyway, here is a site with pictures and stuff of "Noah's Ark".

There are several possibilities. The Ark was constructed something like 5,000 years ago, any evidence would have decomposed away. Noah's family may have taken the Ark apart to build structures once the flood ended. If none of the above happened it may still be undiscovered. The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.

Sodom and Gomorrah may be located under the Dead Sea. Being under such corrosive conditions, the two cities may have left behind little evidence of its existence in the modern era. The angels of God destroyed those cities with fire and brimstone. The cities may not be recognizable even shortly after their destruction.

So many flaws in your argument I don't know where to start.

So because scientists haven't discovered irrefutable proof of the existence of Sodom and Gomorrah or Noah's Ark, those things must be fiction. That's great news...I wasn't aware that scientists had discovered everything that ever existed...it is nice to know that we no longer have to devote any money to archeological research!

It is also nice to know that scientists have applied carbon dating techniques to everything that exists or has ever existed on earth. Just think of all the money we now have to spend on fighting real problems like famine and disease. Of course, since it has all be done we'll need to find something for all those scientists to do from now on and that will increase unemployment...oh well, we have all the money we're saving on their worthless research to help them find another career!

What wonderful arrogance...we can't find proof that something exists so, therefore, it must not exist. It is so sad to know that we will never discover a cure for every disease that has no cure today, that we will never find a solution to hunger or discover all the mysteries of the human genome.

But then, it guess this could be a good thing....it also means that we'll never discover any of the so-called "missing links"!

There is an archaeological theory on the whereabouts of Noah's Arc. This might prove that Noah had an Arc, but not a world wide flood. Though he would assume it was world wide. It is not conclusive because of the location, there have been no digs or tests. Just speculation and theory.
Sodom and Gamora I'm not sure about.

Maybe you are not aware of the evidence we have of all those things? Try Google Searches because they have been going on for decades about Noah's ark. But say if it isn't Noah's Ark on Ararat, it was made out of wood! And how many thousands of years has it been?! Exposed to the elements and all!

Sodom and Gommorah is another issue. They have so much on that!

What would I expect to find as proof today for Noah's ark? I would expect that there would be a layer of dead animals and plants around the whole world. What do we find but a worldwide fossil record, of dead animals and plants which were buried very quickly. Sounds like evidence to me.

The Bible says Sodom and Gomorrah were utterly destroyed. What would you find if you found S&G anyway, a pile of rubble? It is interesting there are some Archaeologists that believe Bab edh-Dhra, thought to be Sodom, and Numeira, as Gomorrah.

Let me ask the question what is simular between these two stories? First that God is angry with sinners every day. Also that God will punish the guilty. Third that in each case there was a way of excape. Today the gospel goes forth and has a simular ring to it. God is still angry with sinners, God will punish the guilty, but there is still a way of excape. That way is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our ark or excape and those that seek him for refuge will find it!

should not have been found suggesting massive flood waters carried these animals around the world. Also, they seem to find them all within a certain layer of the ground that scientists have dated as being during some cataclysmic event of a certain time period. There are many more such scientific discoveries that strongly suggest that something major happened. I find it easy to believe as I consistently see science catching up with traditional beliefs. With all due respect, there is much more than Diminati is aware of. Much more!

For Noah's Ark it's the same reason there is no evidence of who built Stone Henge (possibly mispelled) or why....time and weather errodes everything. For Sodom and Gamora, if you read the bible it tells you that God utterly destroyed it.

Because they didn't happen. There was a program on the History Channel about searching for Sodom and Gomorrah and even the experts called it a legend. They found two cities that could POSSIBLY be those cities, but they just as easily could not been. There was not one piece of evidence that they were Sodom and Gomorrah, so it cannot be proven.
