I went out with my friend on a bike ride yesterday. We pulled up by the side of a path for a break. I opened my bag up to get my water. There were my tyre levers, my pump, my valves, my sandwiches but nowhere could I see my water. I'd forgot to pack it.

My friend was, at that tme, enjoying a draught of his own water from his full bottle (about a 3/4L bottle). I asked if I could have a drink from his but he refused on the grounds that he had only brought enough water for himself. He suggested that, instead, I go to a nearby pub and ask for a glass of water there.

Can anyone think of a reason why his decision was justified?

I'm posting this in philosophy to encourage a deeper analysis than I might have got in the 'friends' section.

There was this man that was deserted on an island for 10 years. One day he was on the beach when out of nowhere this beautiful woman appeared in a wetsuit. She walked over to the man and asked, 'How long has it been since you've had a cigarette?'

He replied,' About 10 years.'

She reached over and unzipped her left zipper and pulled out a cigarette and gave it to him. He lit it and took a couple drags and said, 'I've missed this.'

She then asked, 'How long has it been since you've had a beer?'

He said, 'The same about 10 years.'

She then reached over and unzipped her right zipper and pulled out a beer and gave it to him.

He opened it and took a couple drinks and said, ' That's good beer.'

She then unzipped the long zipper in the middle to her patch and asked, 'How long has it been since you've had a real good time?'

The man replied, 'You have golf clubs in there!'

I went to get my eyebrows waxed and didn't know it but when i got up it was like pencil thin almost. Then she proceeded to tell me she did that so it could regrow back straight and regular... this infuriated me of course but i got over it. Now i am thinking how thick and what shape should it take is it based on face measurements? Or rather preferences because this just doesn't look right to me. :( Either that or i am just not use to it?

I went to an Australian Christian school ithe 1970s, and was taught normal science including evolutionary theory. I never met a creationist there. Anyone who might have thought that Genesis was a literal historical account would have been considered a bit mad.

I have a set of of 9th Edition Encyclopaedia Britannica at home, published between about 1875 and 1885. It is considered one of the finest editions of the most respected encyclopaedia in the world. Nearly all the academic writers would have been Christians - Lutherans, Prebyterians, Church of England folk and even some Catholics. The science is outdated now, of course, but very good for its time.

The "evolution" section, as well as the sections in biology, zoology, etc acknowledge the genius of their near contemporary Darwin, and there is no hint of any serious intellectual opposition to his theories.

Now I get on the net and read about this thing called "Creationism"

So what happened between 1875 (or 1975) and 2007

I do not drink Rootbeer often, but every time I drink the more common kinds such as A&W and Mug (But I seem ok with IBC?) I have a hangover like effect the next day and sometimes a mood swing or just feel somewhat lethargic and bad.

I did not think anything until it happened repeatedly, and every time I drank it I was in a bad mood the next day and got in arguments sometimes. EVERY time. I had that happen yesterday and recalled last time I drank it I felt the same way, and the time before..

Could I be allergic to some chemical or something in the root beer? Regular beer makes me sick.

This question is just a matter of curiosity. Even many small villages now have McDonalds. I just got to wondering where in the US was the greatest distance between 2 of the restaurants. I would guess somewhere in the Midwest like Nebraska or Iowa where it seems like you have to drive forever to hit civilization again after driving by acres upon acres of wheat or corn. It made me wonder-if I had a Big Mac Attack-just how far might I be forced to drive to satisfy my desire for Mickey D's. Any help would be appreciated in figuring out the answer to this all important, earth-shattering, I-just-gotta-know question. Thanks!

I am a Chinese. So i personally think that Chinese is the most widly spoken language in the world. The Chinese language is going to be the world's spoken language in the future. Any points and views. I also have a view that besides Chinese and English, the other languages in the world are not important at all. It's no use learning eg Tamil when that language is spoken by so little people.

My girlfriend and I got a little physical during an argument and the police was called out. My girlfriend and I were both arrested and charged w/misdemeanor domestic/assault and battery to a family member because we both assaulted one another. This is uncommon because usually in most cases only one person is arrested in a domestic situation which would be the perpetrator. The police said that we are both victims and both defendants. My GF & I have not been in trouble with the law, we laughed it off and made up after we bonded out on an unsecured/recoginance bond later that day. My Girlfriend and I want the get the charges dropped because we are going to counseling & we have made up. I called the District Attorneys office and told them we want to resolve this matter and drop the charges against each other. They said it’s a strong possibility but we needed to talk city prosecutor What are the chances of having to go to us jail time cause of a family fight? We have never been in trouble
