Historically because of its warmth. The fur usually comes with the skin of the animal that wore it before the people did, and that helps shed moisture.
We can do almost as well with synthetics these days, and they may be easier on those of us who suffer from allergies to animals.
Today furs are worn as a status symbol and as a fashion statement. Fur garments tend to be very expensive.

Some people wear furs as they traditionally always have and may have little access to retail outlets to purchase other materials ( thinking here of Eskimos and the like) .. and I guess I understand that.
Some people wear fur as a status symbol .. " Oh look at me , I am wealthy enough to wear a coat that is natural fur and was made by killing 43 little rodents called Minks"
Fur DOES feel lovely and yes it's very warm .. but WE can live without fur coats ... try telling a baby seal cub that it can live without his/hers.
There's a part of me that doesn't really have an issue over *farmed* animals .. for the production of Fur .. BUT .. I tend to think that those fur farms increase the desire for other furs . and then we start placing animals in danger ( as in rare, extinct) ..
It's not something most people on this earth NEED to wear , but there seems to be an increasing trend to wear it again ..
While we DON;T need to wear it .. OTHER materials SHOULD be used

Animals wearing fur may exit at very cool places.It means fur protacts from cool,so people wear it.

Because it just looks so damn cool.
A status symbol. Fur is expensive.

maybe becos they just think tt wearing fur will tell their status eg. rich / famous? another reason is tt maybe it keeps them warm? i dunno.. i dont wear fur.
n they hav no love / compassion for animals. which is a sad thing.
