I posted a question the other day for Jehovah Witnesses, asking why they were certain Jesus was not God. One of the JWs explained:

"The Sahidic Coptic New Testament, which existed 1,700 years prior to their Bible, shows --for instance-- that John 1:1 was first written exactly the way their New World Translation Bible now renders it, & therefore proves that it was later changed ..."

At the same time, I've heard from others that Jehovah Witnesses were responsible for changing the original wording of this scripture. So I'm trying to determine which is accurate information.

Can someone explain the validity of The Sahidic Coptic New Testament? How reliable is it? What is it? And where can I find other "neutral" sources concerning the original translation of John 1:1 which reads "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

The NWT reads "In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." Thanks

My wife has a sole proprietorship and did some work for a company that cut a check to her in December, but which was not received until January 2007. She is using cash accounting and considers this money recevied in 2007. However, the 1099-MISC indicates it was income paid in 2006.

I'm trying to do the taxes and her QuickBooks indicates this is not taxible for 2006 (since the money wasn't received until 2007). But the 1099-misc says otherwise. What should I do - either
(a) change her books to indicate it was received in 2006
(b) ask the company to reissue (or retract somehow) the 2006 1099-misc
(c) don't include the 1099-misc in the return and wait for the IRS to ask me about it, or
(d) something else I haven't thought of?

I am a middle school girl. I have the biggest crush on one of my friends. I cant get him out of my head. His name is Brian and he is my age, same grade, and everything. He is smart,cute,funny,nice hair,nice eyes, great hair, and he has the best personality. One of the best things is that he likes me. Even though he knows i like him and i know he likes me we still havent became more than friends. That is because we are way to shy to do anything. I dont have anything like his e-mail,myspace, or what ever because i am to shy to well ask for anything. So is he. I have tried asking him out but it never works i back out at the last second. I have tried notes but never had the courage to go through with it and give it to him. I know it may sound stupid but i even dream about him. Not day dream but actual dreaming i just cant get him out of my head. What do i do? I am so confused i need some help.

Now, I'm not making any assumptions or accusations--but the only people I've ever heard express derogatory opinions of the homeless are the neo-cons. What do you think?

One with a waterfall is a painting by Moran 1922 it is dated.About frame size, that was hidden behind the painting shown in the other picture.The other painting has no name,date or anything.Just know it was in front of the Moran painting.Also I have included a picture of an old piano in fairly good shape.It was from the Boston Piano Company I think.Any help on these items or info would be great.Values are appreciated as well but really just curious about them.Thanks~!

I went and saw a slideshow presentation of Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth' and at the end were early photographs of Earth from space, and a really wonderful poem was read about one of the photos featuring Earth as a speck. I was watching some trick plays on youtube and they would snap the ball by handing it back to the quarterback who would act like he is changing the ball out and then run. I always thought you had to snap it between you legs. I guess you dont. Whats the rule on that?

I was agnostic for almost 30 years, but I was lucky. Although I was surrounded by devotely religious people their faith was not crammed in my face. My best friend was Roman Catholic. I told her at that time that I just couldn't go for something I couldn't see or touch. This is what was important: she, my (then) future husband, his family, friends and even the priest simply said they respected my choice. They said if I don't want to think of myself living by God's laws that was fine, but I needed to remember to live by the laws of morality and mankind. I had no problem with that and eventually events in my life occurred that brought me to the church.
What I would like to know is this: As Christians we are taught that Christ died for ALL of us, he awaits any non-believer's invitation and he said if you did not believe in Him, believe in His work. Why are you so harsh and why don't you wait to help until they want it? That has got to be the quickest way to insure they never believe.
