Are the over-the-counter microdermembration kits the same as doing it professionally?

They're cheaper, but do they work the same? Is there anything I should know about them? Has anyone had a bad experience?

I have never went in for a microderm treatment. But, I've heard a few stories that it can leave you scarred and with irritated skin. When having it professionally done they do get deeper into the skin...where as an at-home kit won't go so deep....but will give you the same results with a few more sessions...and still cost you a lot less.

I can tell you that BeautiControl's Microderm Abrasion creme has the same ingredients that the professionals use. Oprah has attested that BeautiControl's creme is the best at-home treatment out there.

It would also help to be using a good skin care system with a repair product as well.

no the crystals in drugstore micro-derm products are rough and of low quality. Professional results are best because they take off more dead skin cell layers but may leave you in doors for a bit of days since the exfoliated skin can be raw or tender. I recomend two at home products that will give great results. One is the Dermanew system sold at nordstrom the other is Origins modern friction. I personally prefer the origins product. With the dermanew system use a sunscreen especially. Both products should be followed with a good skin regiman and plenty of moisturizer. exfoliate=emoliate. hope this helps bb

I use Avon's at home answer for micro-dermabrasion and after 2 uses I see improvement and changes. The product is not as strong as a professional treatmentand much cheaper and works in the long run.
Not all products are created equal. You ahve to find what works for you.

They are nowhere near the same results. Professional microdermabrasion is much more effective, but the over the counter ones are decent for basic exfoliation. I use it the neutrogena one sometimes and I like it, but if you want real results, see a professional esthetitian.
