How do the functions of the neurotansmitters norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine, and acetyl choline relate to depression? How do they cause or contribute to the illness?

Since the election Tuesday, there has been a lot of talk of certain politicians being "lame ducks." I was just wondering what this term meant, and perhaps how we came to use it in regards to politicians.

I'm the wrong side of 30,and feel i can't stand her 3 year old kid.We've been seeing each other for 3 months and i want to travel and experience places, that i could'nt afford to do when my own kids were young.I really like her but I can't see a way around the problem. Should i cut my ties now,before we all get "in" too deep,or should i go off by myself (or find another partner)and travel/have fun.

My male sherpei is almost a year old. Due to unexpected circumstances my husband and I have not been able to work on obidience training with him like we should have. He does however get lots of love and attention. Also due to those unexpected circumstances we do not have the money to take him to classes. All in all he is a good dog but, everytime we open our gate he bolts. If he comes when I call him I tell him "good boy" and pet him; as I don't want him to be afraid to come when called but then he bolts again. Most of the time we have to pick him up and carry him inside. This is not easy, he is getting big. Tonight he tried to nip at me more than once when I was carrying him back in. What can I do?

I was at work the other day...and the girls that I talk to..tell me..that the guy I think is cute...ask both of them...who was the girl that likes him and is stalking him..when they told me this I was like No Way...I also find out that...this girl who "Loves" him told him...that some girl in the front..likes him..and is stalking him..I was like...I never said that...so the whole time I was working..everytime he walked by..he kept looking at me..Now I don't know how to act..because he probably thinks bad of me...even before even talking to me.I saw the girl who told him..and she couldn't even look me in the eye..I just wanted to walk up to her...and tell her off..but I was at work..and that would make me look bad...And what if I wanted something to happen between the two of us.I really don't think its going to happen.but I still could have hoped..sidenote..its not like anything would have..because I don't think many guys look at me.and say "oh she is cute" "I am going to flirt with her"

mankind really has done some absolutely AMAZING things! i mean we have really come a long way!

...so why does it still seem like so many people are idiots? is it cause i talk to too many people on this site? or is it just a small percentage of mankind that creates these things and the rest of us benefit?

I have an 'Industrial' in my right ear that I got done in February. I've had a couple of 'run ins' with it, literally. I had a box fall on it, I've ran into a box while someone was carrying it *long story*, etc. Now it looks like I have scar tissue on the outside of the piercing. Not where the ear starts to curve but on the outside. If it is scar tissue, how can I get rid of it and it it's not what it is, is it treatable and what can I do to get rid of it? I also have the tragus on my left ear and it's starting to do the same thing. The guy over reacted, and was an idiot. The girl liked him A LOT at one point. Would you ladies hate it, if a guy is persistent on trying to get you back? And if the guy sent a few emails, and no response. If you just wanted the guy to go away, would you tell him to f-off, or just keep on avoiding him? If you girls liked him a lot, don't you find it flattering that a guy REALLY wants to be with you?

My son's doctor just prescribed him Ritalin. It's a low dose, but I am unsure to give it to him for school. They say he is ADD, but I just have such a hard time believing in it. He cannot focus on his schoolwork and has explosive tantrums in class if he gets punished for something he did wrong. A lot of the kids pick on him though. I sometimes wonder if it is just rebellion from being picked on. He hates school already and he's only in 3rd grade. They want me to start him on meds, but I am hesitant to do so. What is your opinion?
