I'm planning on applying to SDSU(San Diego State U) and I'm wondering whats the closest beach where my mom could rent an aptartment/condo? Right on the water or very close would be ideal please!!

We're in La Jolla and would like to move elsewhere in the San Diego area. La Jolla is just too noisy and constant construction, very dense. We do love the village atmosphere though and being close to the beach. We don't want to go too far from La Jolla (village, not the UTC area). We are retired and so don't care about schools. Want quiet, no dense traffic, ocean, village-atmosphere, and affordability would be nice. Any suggestions?

Hello... Im on vacations on San Diego, CA and I would like to know if here do u have "black friday"? Cus I would like to go shopping :) and I've heard that in US, on the day after Thanksgiving the stores have a lot of sales, does it apply in San Diego, as well?
Some one know what time Parkway plaza opens on "black friday"???

...could i live comfortably only make 60-70,000 a year?
...could you possibly tell me about other places right outside of san diego that i could live in, feel safe, and afford....

Hi! I'm hoping on moving to San Diego next year (pending my application to college) and am really excited since I love the city and it's miles of beautiful beaches, Balboa park, downtown and the weather.

So i'm going back there for thanksgiving after a couple of months away. I never liked SD while there, it was just sooo boring and pre-fabricated. Well, since I'm going to be stuck for a week, I might as well do something semi-fun. What is there? And nothing touristy (ie zoo, beach, balboa park, etc).

My son leaves Ireland tomorrow Sat 17th Nov to fly to San Diego. He has rented a car to drive to Seattle - everything appears to be arranged. But I want to check he has adequate car insurance that is needed/required? He is over 25 years and has normal Travel Insurance.

We're planning a trip to San Diego in March. We're looking at a condo at Mission Beach and one in Oceanside. Both are on the beach, but I don't know anything about these areas.

1) How's the area around Mission Beach?

2) How's Oceanside?

I don't want to end up renting a beautiful condo that is in an awful area where is gross, disgusting, and where I wouldn't want to take my kids.

Any insights anyone has would be welcome.

Is it safe for a single girl to stay there? I'm travelling by myself and I rather spend money shopping then in an expensive hotel. It would be for 3 nights. I read that it's a YMCA and that people live there is it true?

I might be going to San Diego in late March for Spring Break...but I just want to make sure that it isn't going to be too cool. I'm pretty sure that it stays around the 70's-80's most of the year there, but I know it cools down in the winter.

Also, I'd want to be going to the beach, so what about the water temperature? I've been there a few times in the summer, and I know that the water is pretty cool there because of the currents coming from the north...so how cold would it be in late March? Would it be bearable without a wet suit?

I'm from New York so I'm not sure if I'd want to spend all of the time and money going to San Diego (Encinitas is where we would be staying) if I'm not really going to be able to enjoy the beach/ocean.
