I am making my 1st ever visit to Glacier National Park. In addition to hiking, we will be driving the Going to the Sun Road. I've heard different viewpoints on which direction to drive it.

(a) West to East -- I am coming from the south, by way of the west and this is the preferred route. I hear, too, the dramatic approach of seeing the Great Plains.

(b) East to West -- I read in a travel guide that it's a better choice as the sun is behind you. I am interested specifically whether you get better photographs with the sun in this direction.

Any experiences would be most appreciated!

Thank you.

Wondering how their jobs are and things as such. I live in Michigan now and think Virginia is a beautiful state. Michigan's economy is terrible. Just want to live and work in a thriving state. Can anyone tell me what is the best place in VA to live?

... what should I be looking to see?
Unusual suggestions welcomed and considered.

I plan to fly into Madison from the UK just after the Labor day weekend, and hire a car for a week or a little longer.
The House on the Rock is my principal target as it appears to be the epitome of that amazing phenomenon, "Roadside America" which, like YA itself, exerts a strange and terrible fascination. See

I stumbled across this through reading Neil Gaiman's "American Gods".

We are in our late 50s. We are familiar with air travel, but some journeys are by train, and we are apprehensive about handling our luggage . We will have about 4 bags, 3 big (23 kgs each) and 1 small (7 kg). Are their trolleys available at stations. Can we get luggage handlers to assist us?

I'm thinking about relocating to the Great Northwest. I love the moderate temperatures, rainy days, sparkling bodies of water, and plush greenery found there. But I can't decide: Portland or Seattle?

How are they alike? How are they different? Which city would you prefer, and why?

I love LA. I hate New York. It's a place for aspiring wannabes and angry, ugly people who thing drab is hip and hip means angry. LA has great weather, great people, a lot of landscape, a lot of diversity, basketball, baseball, skiing nearby, hiking, the ocean, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Pasadena, movie studios... the list is endless. Who wants to live in NYC and pay super high rents and pretend they're hip? Just so you can be 'anonymous' and take the dirty subway? Gimme more.

My husband and I want to move in the next 1-2 years to a beautiful place with lots of outdoor activites available. We have 2 children, 11 and 5, so we also want safe communities with low crime and good schools. We would prefer to live in an older community that has some character. We would love a house built from the 30's and older. We had our hearts set on Colorado but have heard that we won't like Denver because it's overpriced and overpopulated. We also heard great things about Portland and some about Tacoma, Washington, but also lots of negative on this site. I've gone through alot of the postings on here and don't seem to be able to get a definitive answer. We would like to be close a major metro area for the "city life", airport, retail, and my husband works for Wells Fargo so he can easily transfer, but not have to commute through hours of traffic. What is the cost of living difference between these three areas? I know Denver is faily expensive, but how do they compare?

Hello,

For my honeymoon my fiancee and I are going to New York City. We have been there a few times and have always loved it. We would like to do some non-touristy things (because we are from Orlando and would prefer not to do anything fake or tourist-ish like all of Orlando is) to do. Any suggestions on cool places to eat, see shows, or just local things to do?

How do the people living in the Oregon coast pay their bills when there are very few jobs there?

I would really love to move to the Oregon coast but it seems to me that all the jobs are in Portland, Beaverton, Salem, and Eugene. Is this impossible?
