I love houston. I've been to phoenix and it was boring

If your worried about "wetbacks/Mojados" there are MANY in houston too,

Houston has some of the highest rated schools in the nation, esp north houston.

I find houston very affordable, except when it comes to driving since houston is considered one of the 3 largest (population and area wise) plan to spent a lot of time and money on the road. Rent is considered fairly low compared to alot of the US

houston is hot and sticky in the summer.
employment, I never had a problem, but I waited tables.

houston has a high crime rate (lived there 15 years) I never had a problem. ever. unless I was at the bar. had a drunk hit my friends car with his.

I moved to austin (1 year) it has a lower crime rate. I've had my car broken into 3 times in three different areas and I've been attacked/ punched by a complete stranger for no reason. Someone also threw a rock at my window and busted it.

pheonix, I don't know what to say except it looked very bleak and painfully dry. I didn't see many people either

I would generally pick Phoenix in the terms you listed, but i suggest you take a trip there or Houston and see which one you like better.
