I love LA. I hate New York. It's a place for aspiring wannabes and angry, ugly people who thing drab is hip and hip means angry. LA has great weather, great people, a lot of landscape, a lot of diversity, basketball, baseball, skiing nearby, hiking, the ocean, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Pasadena, movie studios... the list is endless. Who wants to live in NYC and pay super high rents and pretend they're hip? Just so you can be 'anonymous' and take the dirty subway? Gimme more.

One day in NYC: I saw a guy commit suicide, got knocked to the ground by a five-foot business woman, my breast grabbed by a homeless guy, ripped off by a taxi cab, the trash trucks were on strike and garbage was everywhere, and it started to pour rain (which at least relieved the humidity). Everyone in the city seemed angry. However, the rest of New York State was absolutely beautiful, especially the Hudson Valley.
One day in L.A.: went skiing in the morning and then headed to the beach for dinner. Beautiful sunset. People were friendly, the weather was perfect.
L.A. all the way!

Hi there, I just got back from a trip to NYC, spent 2 days there and while I liked my time there, I can say that I won't go back there for a long time unless I have more time to spend there and i'm not rushed.

I've been to LA once before was lucky enough to stay with my aunt and uncle who live in Burbank, and had a ball...stayed a week and did all the touristy stuff. Weather was awesome, the beach was right there, and the people seemed much friendlier. Plus there aren't all those darn taxis lol.

I would much rather live in LA than NYC, but that is just my opinion....(but then again LA has those mudslides and earthquakes...but got to give a little to take a little lol)

I've never been to NY, but I've gotten the impression from the answers before me that LA is a far better choice than NY.

A person I knew who lived in both places said that he rarely had a good night's sleep in NY because it was always noisy. He lives in Pasadena now.

I'm a fellow Angelino and I say you can never go wrong with Southern California. It's great!

Although I love Los Angeles I found NY to be really interesting. They're quite different from each other so they defy direct comparison.

I was amazed at how many people were out late at night walking, just going from place to place, eating at street vendors, etc. It had a very lively feeling.

I still prefer L.A. but I definitely would like to visit NY again, it's one of the great cities of the world, like L.A. :)

properly...it will be greater value-effective to stay in la, yet each thing is amazingly unfold out right here...will elect a automobile to get around. la does supply greater variety in environments... consistent with the place you reside you're many times purely an hour remote from the two the mountains, the coastline, or the desolate tract. between the few places the place you may pass snowboarding sometime and pass to the coastline the subsequent.

I visited Santa Monica and it was full of bums and beggars. I remember walking down 5th Avenue and the skyscrapers just blew me away .. I was almost breathless.
