Wisconsin. After "The House on the Rock"..?

Question

... what should I be looking to see?
Unusual suggestions welcomed and considered.

I plan to fly into Madison from the UK just after the Labor day weekend, and hire a car for a week or a little longer.
The House on the Rock is my principal target as it appears to be the epitome of that amazing phenomenon, "Roadside America" which, like YA itself, exerts a strange and terrible fascination. See

hi....another place you might want to consider is frank lloyd wrights house Taliesin which is in spring green. then you could head up hwy 35 which follows along the mississippi river cross over to iowa and go on a river boat ride (there is even one that was converted into a casino for gambling...lol). then there is cave of the mounds and last but not least there are many amish communities in the area that are fun to go shopping in ( they make beautiful items and are heirloom quality especially their quilts and woodworking items)...hope this helps...enjoy your trip oh and don't forget to pack a light weight jacket (nights are cold) and shorts for the daytime....wisconsin weather is still a bit weird at this time of the year and when you get here...don't forget to buy "OFF" mosquito/tick repellent!!!!
