It depends on where you live.

FLYING
Pros - Faster transportation, saving time
Cons - More expensive

DRIVING
Pros - Slower transportation, get to see scenery and stop as you please, cheaper
Cons - More time consuming, driving when you are tired or sleepy

Usually, I'm willing to drive about 300-400 miles if there are nice scenic roads, if it's simply an area I've never been to, or if I just plain feel like it.

I'll fly if the distance is far, I want to save time and not feel drowsy or tired on the long road, or if I just plain don't feel like it.

Both modes of transportation are fun in their own ways.

If it takes you almost two days to drive there, then you should probably fly, because you're looking at going 600 miles, through at least $80 of gas plus $120 for a hotel, and you can get a flight for $200 that will have you there and back very quickly.

Your call.

It depends on what you want to do while traveling or how quickly you need to get to your destination. Last summer, I took a trip up to Canada from New Mexico. It was a car trip and we were in no great hurry. We chose to drive because we knew we would be driving through states we had never visited before. If we had chosen to fly, we would never have gotten to experience the beautiful scenery of Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

what is your starting point? More than 8 hours fly, less than 8 hours drive. That is my rule.

Fly, though I have no idea of where you're traveling from...Airtran has great rates and Atlanta is their hub.
