I'm coming into Penn Station and wanted to know about how much taxi's run in NYC to certain points. It's my first time in NYC and I don't feel like dealing with the subway.

Because just talk about it so much and say how awesome it is and i have never been there and i am going up there soon so i wanted to hear from people that live that and people who've been there just a few times, is it really worth all the money to go up there because its really expensive, and is it overrated? I just don't want to get my expectations too high.

Which neighbourhood is thebest to live in in New York City?? Taking into consideration: crime, education, neighbourhood friendliness etc. within the manhatten, bronx, queens and brooklyn area. Also, as close to manhatten as possible if in surrounding areas. Any new yorkers available to help???
Also, where abouts are the houses that are like terraces, but have steps leading up to them?? Like the houses on Bruce Almighty.

This might seem like a strange question. One from some larger area near New Jersey would be good, though, cause' people here collecting everything for a few bucks, and then take it on to consignment shops. Many people feel that is a really low thing to do to other people.

Sometimes you just need one thing, and it's the end of the retail season, anyway, and then stores don't have it at all new to buy.

Ihave decided to take my girlfriend on a 3 day getaway around NY area. I am looking for something inexpensive but memorable. No Atlantic City. We only have about 3 days so we want something relatively close to NY, NJ or metropolitan area. Any suggestions?

I'm doing a little survey to get an idea of safety in NYC subway. Part of it has to do with gender. Don't answer if you haven't taken NYC subway. Please answer honestly. Thanks.

Ladies, please state your age and whether or not you would feel comfortable taking the subway alone late at night.

Both guys and ladies, which subway stations are most dangerous?

I am planning a trip to Philly and NYC during Thanksgiving holidays. There are things I need help on.
1.When I make hotel reservation in NYC, which part of the city is not safe and I should avoid? I have gone for vacation alone many times in my life. Hopefully, I will go to NYC by myself this time. Is it safe to roam around the city at night? (Of course, I don’t mean 3 o’clock in the morning.) Some of my coworkers go to NYC on a regular basis for business. They have told me a lot of scary stories such as homeless people stay in the public bathroom to keep warm and junkies getting high in the public restroom.

2. I plan to spend a day at Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Is this enough?

3.I will take a bus from NYC to Philly. My hotel will be in Independence Park area. I know the bus station is pretty close to Independence Hall, but is it safe for me to walk from the bus station to the hotel? Remember I will have a bag of luggage. Everyone know I am a tourist.

Thanks
