Hi, I recently moved to Newark, NJ by way of LA and Paris for my fiance's job with the airlines. Although we like being in the Ironbound in Newark because of its proximity to NYC and the EWR airport, we would love to see if there is more to NJ than Newark. Please recommend some beautiful towns we can drive to and what should we see there? We love little towns with cute main streets and such. Thanks

We went to New York for New Years last year and we saw some hotels close around there. Is there a hotel where you can watch the ball drop from your hotel room? Thanks!!!

I'm taking a group of about 400 to New York City in July 2007. I need to find "cheap" loding for 7 nights with easy subway access so our buses don't have to haul us into the city every day. Any ideas?

I'll be leaving on a short trip to new york which will be my first time in the city....and was wondering whether it would be a good idea to actually look for a hotel when I land in new york city or book something online........are budget hotels packed on weekends or is it easy to just have a cab-driver take you somewhere and check in there and then...

somewhat of a stupid question....i know....but all responses would be greatly appreciated.....my main quirk is that i'll like to get a first hand feel of the place instead of just booking something online..

Which neighbourhood is thebest to live in in New York City?? Taking into consideration: crime, education, neighbourhood friendliness etc. within the manhatten, bronx, queens and brooklyn area. Also, as close to manhatten as possible if in surrounding areas. Any new yorkers available to help???
Also, where abouts are the houses that are like terraces, but have steps leading up to them?? Like the houses on Bruce Almighty.

I'm wondering if it's such a hassel that it's not worth going. We plan to travel by car from Boston to New York and I supposed we'd get a place to stay in New Jersey the day before the parade, then take the subway into New York. We'd love to see it and I know it's an unforgettable experience but I don't know if hotels and the tube and the crowds will make it worth it. Would hotels be too expensive or all booked? Would the investment in driving time and getting to the parade etc. be worth all the effort?

i just applied to an on-line application in newyorkcares.com so that i can be some kid's secret santa. Now that i think about it, i hope the kid does not wish for anything expensive.

Can anyone who has done this explain to me better how this works?

Is the traffic horrible, or do they get it moving fairly quickly? I will be continuing on to the BQE into Brooklyn (not far). The bridge re-opens at 11 AM and I need to make it to an appointment by noon. Would you risk it or spend the morning going into Manhatten from NJ and taking mass transit, just to be sure??
