We went to New York for New Years last year and we saw some hotels close around there. Is there a hotel where you can watch the ball drop from your hotel room? Thanks!!!

Hilton is right in the middle of Times Square... you can definitely see it from there...

There are two hotels I can think of that are right on Times Square.

At the northern end of the square, on Broadway there's a W Hotel. I'm not sure if any of the rooms give you a view south of the ball dropping. Your best bet is probably the Marriott Marquis. That hotel stands on the west side Broadway between (I believe) 44th and 45th Streets. The rooms that face east offer a staggering view of all of Times Square (I know, I stayed in one once). The downside, naturally, is that everyone wants one of those rooms on New Year's Eve. I wouldn't be surprised to find it costing $1000 for just one night (that's a grand). Nor would I be surprised that you couldn't get a room for several years.

The ball, btw drops from #1 Times Square, an otherwise empty building that sits on a triangle bounded by 42nd Street, Broadway and 7th Avenue).

Good luck!

when we went to new york, we stayed at the sheraton manhattan, and it was cheap, yet pretty nice and right down the street from times square. i would definitely recommend it.
