Is the traffic horrible, or do they get it moving fairly quickly? I will be continuing on to the BQE into Brooklyn (not far). The bridge re-opens at 11 AM and I need to make it to an appointment by noon. Would you risk it or spend the morning going into Manhatten from NJ and taking mass transit, just to be sure??

Last night the upper deck of the Verrazano was closed due to an accident (for less than an hour) - traffic was backed up Brooklyn bound across almost the entire SI Expressway. I would go with mass transit (especially since once everyone gets across the bridge, the marathon still continues through Brooklyn for a while)

I don't drive but my guess is that it will be flooded by people. Mass transit will probably be your best bet. Mass transit is not as fast as driving so you should probably start your journey very early.

From the bottom of Brooklyn it takes about me about an hour to get into the city by subway and 15-20 minutes by car...but I don't think that's a really reliable car travel time because my significant other drives like a madman.

Traffic is a nightmare. avoid driving in the city at all after 10 PM Saturday, Its not the traffic... its the closed roads, detouring traffic, out-of-towners, newsies, spectators....
Mass Transit will be the way to go.

not a good thing to drive in the city, especially when there is a marathon going on. Best bet is to take mass transit.

Trust me its not a good idea, You will never make it by car. Better off going into city or take the path. If you take the car try taking the side streets (in Bklyn), what ever u do dont take 4th Ave.
