Am going to be in New York on Sunday 5th Nov - which areas are not affected by Marathon.?

What tourist areas are ok for you to shop/eat etc that are not effected by the Marathon.

I don't know exactly which areas will be unaffected by the marathon, but if you check the website at http://www.nycmarathon.org/home/index.php it will give you the route and start/finish information which would tell you where not to go. Good luck with that and have a good visit.

In Manhattan you'll want to avoid the area around Central Park - the Upper East and Upper West Sides especially. Any part of Manhattan below Central Park (59th Street) should be fine – Fifth Avenue, Madison, Soho, and the Village.
