They are neighbors. There is no distance because they are next to each other with no town in between.

Sunnyside and Long Island City are very close to each other. If you were driving it would probably take about 5 - 10 minutes, depending on where you were going.
You can also take the train about 3 - 4 stops - the 7 train stops in both neighborhoods.
And there are public buses you can take also.
