The Ghostbusters films are always good. I went to New York recently & found the firestation they used!

Also Short Circuit II is a particuarly good example, especially as it nicely portrays the wide-eyed wonder of a first timer in the Big Apple (even though he is a robot).

Also Men In Black, Spiderman, Godzilla

Also try CSI:NY, it likes to do big establishing shots to give you the New York feel.

i don't think its necessarily what you get from movies because when you go to new york you may not have the same experience as joe schmoe had in a movie. new york is not all that bad. its interesting. i would say sex in the city is the latest TV show i can think of that features some of the swanky bars, restaurants, diners and not to mention the boutiques and clothing stores that new york has to offer. you'll enjoy it. i think this is a great time to go as well. not too cold yet & not too warm. have fun! wish i could go!

- Men in Black, Part I (Cool scene in the Guggenheim)
- King Kong (new version, last 45 minutes)
- Madagascar (the animation - you learn a lot about New Yorker's attitudes and lifestyles)
- The Thomas Crown affair (art scene, incredibly clever theft of master piece, makes you want to check out the Met and other museums)
- Manhattan (Woody Allen)
