Which neighbourhood is thebest to live in in New York City?? Taking into consideration: crime, education, neighbourhood friendliness etc. within the manhatten, bronx, queens and brooklyn area. Also, as close to manhatten as possible if in surrounding areas. Any new yorkers available to help???
Also, where abouts are the houses that are like terraces, but have steps leading up to them?? Like the houses on Bruce Almighty.

Park Slope, in Brooklyn is getting to be really popular and kind of hip. They re known for their brownstones.

Riverdale in The Bronx is gorgeous, its where I go to school. The houses are ridiculously expensive, but they are so beautiful and its like 15 minutes away from Manhattan.

Upper West Side... especially between 86 and 59th, really pretty apartments, relatively cheap compared to the East Side and some parts of downtown.

I live on 77th and Park and its pretty safe, near a lot of really good schools and in my apartment building everyone is really friendly.

If you want to live in Manhattan, good luck finding a house because they are a rare find and usually are really expensive and need a lot of work.

i'm helping a pal circulate there now. Queens is extra inexpensive and you're closer to long island is maximum circumstances. in specific, some great neighborhoods there are Astoria, Jackson Heights and wooded area Hills. And FYI, they're called boroughs.

you are smart, you asked a good question.

the answers are good, too.

My adivse is to come and live in Hoboken, NJ.
Not too cheap either but it's just accross the Hudson River in NJ.

Mostly occupied by young people in the age range of 20 to 30.

It's hard finding an apartment anyplace in NYC and even in Hoboken.
But...it's a great town. You will LOVE it here.

Just come and see for yourself.

There's no best one, is just that some places are a little better than others, but overall I think they're all the same.
