I'm doing a little survey to get an idea of safety in NYC subway. Part of it has to do with gender. Don't answer if you haven't taken NYC subway. Please answer honestly. Thanks.

Ladies, please state your age and whether or not you would feel comfortable taking the subway alone late at night.

Both guys and ladies, which subway stations are most dangerous?

I'm 28. I'd say that I'm fairly comfortable with it. I've taken the train alone at night a million times. For 6 years I worked odd hours/nights and I frequently went home anywhere between midnight and 5am. Nothing bad ever happened that I can recall and there were always a few other people around no matter what time it was. I've had WAY more problems alone on the street late at night.

My old co-worker (a female, early 20s) used to take a combination of the 4,5,6 from the Bronx to lower Manhattan every night at 2am to get to work by 3am. She was usually alone in the car. In 3 years, she had caught about 15 different men on the train masturbating while looking at her and two had tried to approach her while doing it because they thought she was asleep. It never stopped her from taking the train.

As for dangerous stations, I've felt a bit uncomfortable from time to time at various stops on the J train late at night out in Brooklyn.
I'd assume others would be in the more dangerous neighborhoods of Brooklyn and the Bronx. I have no reason to go to those neighborhoods so I can't say what the stations are like. A lot of times the station seems fine but the street isn't safe at all so it's hard to say.

I have taken the subway many times alone, late at night. I feel safe most of the time. I usually plan my trip around the most populous stations to avoid wtg for the train alone.

The most dangerous stations are ones approaching the ends of the lines, where they may be low ridership.. Like the L train, J, 2,3,4 and 5 as they go through Flatbush and East NY, Brooklyn.

I'm 26 - it really depends on the stations/trains you're taking...I live on the 4,5,6 near the 86th street station - that end of the train line is INSANELY safe. I would take the trip alone just about any time of night - assuming I was coming from an equally safe area - say grand central or union square. Another thing to factor into the equation is sobriety...It's all about being aware of your surroundings and being safe - if I've been drinking I'll take a cab at 11pm just to be safe. Whereas sober I'll ride at 3 or 4 am....

I guess that's a long winded way of saying it really depends on the circumstances

Most of my female friends are comfortable taking the subway at almost any hour of the night if they know the area they're going to. They range from 24-40 years old....

They'd be a lot more cautious if they were going some place new.

I'd say anywhere in Manhattan south of 90th street is the safest...further uptown, I would start to get more cautious. On the outer borough lines most are pretty safe, but there are areas to avoid.

I'd say be very cautious in most of the Bronx, and the eastern areas of Brooklyn...but I'm sure there are good areas there too.

i am a from queens and 18 years old. i feel completely comfortable talking the trains alone any time of the day. i think that you if you think something is going to happen to you, then it will.
as for the most dangerous stations...i dont think there are any really. it depends on who is in the station really, and that changes constantly so stations shouldnt be judged as being dangerous because even the most safe one can be dangerous.

Age 48. No they are not safe but alot of people travel the line.
I think that the train into Harlem(Hell's Kitchen) would be the most dangerous.

with reference to it being proselytizing. i won't be in a position to communicate for all skeptics, yet i'm of the view that if somebody else starts the communique, then this is nicely interior etiquette to proceed it. So if their classified ads are a reaction to theist classified ads, then it relatively is not shoving atheism downs human beings's throats. apart from, it relatively is not threatening those with Hell, basically asserting that this is a threat for persons to be sturdy without God. i do no longer think of there is an implication that theists won't be in a position to additionally be sturdy, yet i assume this is my subjective opinion. i do no longer stay in ny, so i do no longer understand if i think of this is a sturdy thought. i understand there are greater than a number of religious billboards in my state. i don't have the spare money to counter them, yet i might experience wonderful if some did.
