Try going to Manhattan, and take one of the boat tours (don't mean to advertise, but I think the company is called "Circle tours") -- guided tours by boat around the entire island of Manhattan. Fun and informative! (and relaxing! Take a camera!) (Its dock is not too far away from "Ground Zero" either, if you have a mind to check it out!)
Or, if you like to shop, there's always "Zabar's"!!

G'day Hagrid,
Thank you for your question.
If I were you, I would make sure you make your flight. That means that you should start heading out to the airport about 3pm allowing 45 minutes to an hour to travel to JFK Airport or the other airport plus time to check in and settle in for your flight.
From your responses, it seems that you aren't really interested in seeing the sights on this trip. I don't know whether you have any business at all on Saturday. If you don't, if you had friends in New York City I would catch up with them over lunch.
You can look on Yahoo! Travel for a restaurant that suits your tastes. Given that it is New York City, you can find just about everything in a bar or restaurant. You might also want to catch a matinee of a Broadway show provided that you can make your flight.
I have attached a couple of guidebooks for you to have a look at to see if there is anything that catches your fancy.
Have a great time.
Regards

i do no longer understand approximately saturday, yet on Sundays Kate's Joint, a vegetarian resturant on Ave. B at 4th St. has brunch. do no longer enable the "vegetarian" scare you, on an analogous time as they do no longer serve genuine 1st Baron Beaverbrook or sausage, they do serve genuine eggs. you will get brunch with a screwdriver or a bloody mary for around $10 a individual. The parts are sturdy sized and the nutrition is excellent.

Hang out at Central Park & browse around the area. Park Ave is close by where you can browse stores, perhaps go to to a good restaurant for lunch/early dinner.

cremedela...is right about making sure you get to the airport in time. I'm not sure where you are from, but don't think you'll be able to see a Broadway show matinee (starts 2pm) - you won't make it in time for your flight most likely.

Two questions first - in which part of town are you staying and which airport are you flying from?
