Will the water rides at Walt Disney World (Splash Mountain ect.), Universal Studios (Jaws ect.), and Sea World (Journy to Atlantas) be open in January? I am going December 31st to January 7th. Thanks!

Between Carlsbad and LaJolla, where is the best place to stay for a month or so?

I don't want a hotel, more like a condo/studio near the water. Nothing fancy, just clean and safe with reasonable rent.

I have a friend graduating from UM at Morris. Most likely will fly into Minneapolis, rent a car, and drive there. If I wanted to stay for a week or two (that's a secondary question, how long should I stay?) and my friend's too busy to be my tour guide, what should I do there aside from go to the graduation?
