Houston is a hot, humid, over billboarded dump...at least that's what the Olympic committee said. Galveston beach has rolling waves of brown (can't see your feet in 6" of water) water.
If you have to come to rabid republican-land, Austin is best.
Of course if you just want to dodge state income tax, it works.

Why not? We moved here. We are living in Houston. Well, a little humid in the summer, but it really depend which part of Texas you are going to chose. Good luck in finding yourself....

what retarded state? North Dakota or something. Texas is cool!! Move to houston it's the best city, we won the MLS cup!! The only problem is that it doesn't snow here. the last it snowed was two years ago....

If you told us what retarded state, that would be helpful? Is it Kentucky? West Virginia? Idaho? Kansas? Or, worse yet, Florida or California?

Depends what state you're in and what you don't like about it. It's impossible for us to tell if Texas would be any better. Do you like warm weather? Are you republican? Christian? Do you like wide open spaces? Do you mind fire ants? Do you have big hair?
