Forget what you read about Great Lakes Crossing mall, it was a failure. There are better malls but I don't think you want to shop. The Detroit Zoo is OK but there are many better around the country. Yes there are many things to do Downtown. The Detroit Institute of Art is very good and there are many other attractions if you would contact the City of Detroit for a list. But, I have to tell you that Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford Museum is a one of a kind. It is located in Dearborn Michigan ( it borders Detroit on the west side ) and there is nothing like it in the world. We are very proud of it, in fact, myself and many people I know have season passes, we love it so much. You can spend a day at the Museum and a day at the Village. April would be a great time to tour the Village for it is outside. You will not regret the trip.

Be careful while downtown. You should be good if you're staying in the suburbs. The Detroit Zoo is fun (in Royal oak) there is a really cool polar bear/artic exibit. Great Lakes Crossing is a HUGE mall nearby (go north on I75). Plays and other sporting events, plus the science center and art institute are right downtown. Nightclubs and bars, if you're into that sort of thing. You can always go across the river into Windsor. (make sure you have your ID with you, by then you might need a passport)

hmmm, i've been there before and there's not much to do. I guess you could go to a basketball game or something, their team is pretty good. They usually have some plays at the various theaters downtown(I saw lion king a few years ago when i was there visiting my cousins)

I have only passed thru the airport, but I hear the city can be a bit dangerous.
They'll shoot you for a pizza .
When driving thru the west side at night...DONT STOP for anything or anyone, you never know who or what is lurking in the burnt out crack houses.
Having said that...have a great trip.
SPARTANS FOR EVER.!!!

dont bother, you'll just end up in a motel drinking alcohol and eating fast food. theres nothing to do there. just watch the wrestling and go home. please believe me!
