What kind of mountain? Do you mean Mt. Ranier? Sure, but it depends on your training. That's serious climbing and people get hurt. But if you are that experienced, you wouldn't be asking here.

As far as other mountains, they may just be extended hikes.

As a rule, take protective clothing, let others know where you are; don't depend on your cell phone to get you out of trouble, check weather and know that weather can turn on you in a second, and be prepared in case you have to sit it out on the mountain for a few days. And don't go alone.

Yes, but it's best to always have a experienced/licensed guide, be in top physical shape, and take all the courses in survival, first aid and mountaineering that you can. The most important thing is knowing when to abort a hike, and never panic, lose your cool or give up on surviving no matter what. As pointed out above, clothing can make a life and death difference when things go bad, and it's foolish to venture out alone. Every year they lose some of the best into the mountains and wilderness or oceans, the risk is always there no matter how good you are but a wise person reduces most of those risks by preparation and clear thinking. Exhaustion, thin air, hunger and hypothermia plays tricks on the mind as well.
