Hey NYman (somewhere in New York)! Hi vclassi (Green Bay area)! Howdy Mr. Knowlegeable (Atlanta)! Just wondering if anyone else from Detroit or the Detroit area ever posts or answers questions in the Travel-Detroit section. If so where are you from originally and or where are you now? If you never lived in the Detroit area, where are you from?

Why did I see almost no police out for the Israeli Day Parade, but the Puerto Rican Day Parade requires buildings to board up their trees and bushes, and there are police buses, communication centers, barriers, street closings, etc?

My husband and I may be moving to Cleveland. We are young professionals with a 1-month-old son. We would prefer to live in a clean, safe neighborhood with lots of other children and local parks. Any suggestions?

I am thinking of relocating to the East Coast, because I like how people are more social and friendly on the east coast, as opposed to the independant, socially-inept west. :)

I was wondering what cities/towns would be good choices for a single professional in early 30s. Need close access to sailing (ocean or lakes), but also would ideally like hiking to be available withing a day's drive, if possible. Culture, excellent food/nightlife, standard of living are all important. I like the friendly sophestication of Miami and Europe because they also social/enjoy being with others. Of course, a pool of eligible gentlement would be important, not just a family atmosphere. Essentially, vibrant and friendly with future.

Of couse, Miami, Atlanta, NYC are possibilities.

But there are many great towns that I just don't know about. What do you think? I have heard that Charleston, SC may be good. Other towns in Florida? What is Jacksonville like? Destin? Other towns in GA

Montauk Point has the lighthouse, but just before it is Camp Hero - the decommissioned military base that's now a public camp-ground. It's got that radar dish.

Anyway, you used to be able to get into the underground sections - the old areas. It was COOL. Does anyone know a way in?

My Family is considering a move to the Denver Area. I grew up in Dallas, and my Wife in Houston. We have also lived in Portland, OR. If anyone could provide comparisons of these places from having lived in each of them I would appriciate the feedback. We have been looking at the southern suburbs, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Aurora, maybe Castle Rock(though it seems a bit too far out). My wife and I are in our 30's and our kids are not in school yet, but my oldest son will soon be starting kindergarden.
