Around Cambria, San Simeon area. About An hour North of Santa Barbara. Breath taken, right off the Pacific Coast, follows the ocean all the way up! Smells of lavender and rosemary, really special. Wineries, B n B's, just go.

I would visit San Francisco for much of the same reasons listed in another response. I would add that about a 45 min drive to the North and you are in Sonoma and Napa valley wine country. Take a hot air balloon ride over wine country.
If you are taking only 7 days for the trip spend a couple of days in each area.

Santa Barbara!!! Reminds me the wonderful moments I spent with my ex boyfriend that was from Long Beach.
We went there for 4 days as a kind of "honey moon"

San Francisco; It is the most beautiful city in the U.S.
