I'd go towards Sandy Beach make sure you go near the area where you don't see much sand and lots of rocks and coral washed up on shore. You can sift through that. Or you could try to go to the North Shore area also. Good Luck sea shell hunting in Hawai'i.

Sorry to say, it is against state law to remove shells or coral from hawaiis beaches. Hawaiians believe it is also very bad luck (especially lava rocks) I am not saying people don't do it, but I have seen alot of terrible things happen when they do (ask any Hawaiian) Leave the land and ocean as you find it. Anyway O'ahu is not the best for shelling. I like Kaua'i. If you want to take something take pictures, and memories. If you want a treat, drive from honolulu over the pali, and take the road to the north shore(sunset beach, pipeline) from kaneohe. most haoles (newcomers)
never go this way. You will find that O'ahu is as beautiful as any island (that is why everyone lives there). You can also drive from waikiki around halona blow hole to sandy beach (awesome body surfing) and thru makapuu to waimanalo, and kailua (my home town) The views are awesome. Print this, and show it to your hotel staff or freindly local. Most people don't see these areas.
