You first need to figure out what part of flying has you so nervous, and determine if there is anything that you can do about it. Try to have faith in the people that take care of, and operate the plane/airport, as they are the best at what they do. You need to look at the statistics about airline travel and see that it really is a very safe method of travel. You may want to talk to your family doctor, they may be able to give you a couple pill prescription for something to calm your nerves on the days that you're going to fly.
Try not to worry too much, it really is an enjoyable way to travel.
Good Luck

Consider this. Statistically you are more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport than getting in a plane crash. There are literally thousands of flights every day and commercial planes almost never crash. In fact it is so rare when it does happen it gets on the national news.
Take a good book, an iPod, some chewing gum (stops your ears from popping on take off and landing), and if you can have a couple of drinks before you board. Try to relax, you are VERY safe.

i've been on planes since i was 1 yr old, there's nothing to worry about. planes are very safe way to travel. and I LOVE to get on airplanes. but
don't sit by the window becuase i think that will just scare u more. if u do end up getting window-seat, kindly ask the person next to you if they'll switch you seats. and your ears will begin to pop as u get higher up in altitude, so bring some gum along to chew so it helps get rid of your plugged up ears. bring your CD player to listen to on the flight, along with some of your fav CD's, or bring a good book, or u can bring some sleeping pills so u can sleep on the flight, by the time u wake up you'll already be at your destination. i believe there's gonna be other ppl on that flight with you that have never been on an airplane either...so your not alone. good luck!!!

1. Buy yourself a novel that you have really wanted to read and save it to read on the plane.
2. Request a window seat, that way you can look out the window and see the landscape as you pass over it.
3. If you find yourself immobilized by your fear, check with your doctor about a mild tranquilizer to take for flying.
4. Talk about your fear of flying to whomever it is you are traveling with and ask them to help keep you distracted during take off and landing.
5. Try to relax, deep breathing, meditation, etc. remember it will all be over with in a few hours when you get to your destination

I'd sit in front of the wings if I were you. If you make the mistake of looking out of the window at certain things, you will see some perfectly normal, but seemingly odd things going on with the wings. Also, you will probably want to get off the plane quicker and not be stuck waiting on some morbidly obese woman to squeeze her fat a@@ through ten rows.

I remember my first flight, I was terrified. I DID NOT sit by the window and I nearly squeezed my friends hand off. lol Really the only thing that bothered me was take off. After we were in the air I was fine. Also chew gum to help keep your ears from popping so much. I also took some magazines to read.

Sit as close to the center of plane as possible..Aisle seat over wing is ideal..You get much less movement there which is scary on first flight..having a few drinks helps too

It's fine, but if you experience any type of trouble with your ears blocking be prepared for that to occur. You might want to try & find an answer to that before you fly. Nothing helps me.
