Im looking at heading to Europe next year to do some backpacking for 2 months.Starting in London up to Ireland, down to Portugal, across to Italy through France and Spain, down to Greece up to Slovakia, across to Austria, up to Germany, Czech, into Netherlands, Belgium, France and back to London. Is getting a Eurail pass the best way to travel between major cities or would flying be my best bet? Also wil 2 months be enough time to see all this?

My husband (he´s Turkish) and I are planning to move to Istanbul next year. I am Canadian, a practicing Muslim, and we currently live in Germany. I know the culture, but as far as living there with a family, I am uncertain. Any insights?

1. How is daily life (with school-age kids) different than in Europe / N. America?

2. I know the windy Ist.-weather. How does it affect the general health there (ex. do people get more migraines or asthma problems there, etc.) . Is there anyplace to get such info? Website/anything? English or Turkish is OK.

3. We would like to live on the Asian side. My husband would like to be able to hear the Azan wherever we live, meaning there are mosques around. Know any nice neighbourhoods? He likes Uskudar, I like seeing more green. Is there a compromise, not too far out?

4. We would like to send our kids to a private school, maybe an Islamic one. Any suggestions?

Has anyone done this? How did the kids adjust?
Thanks!! (you can email me too).

I'm probably going to mess it up, but its funny, I guess when heard. Spelling is wayyy off, but for the sake of yahoo..here goes:
So...A Greek guy and a Cypriot guy are talking and the Greek guy says " Kala, oli sas edo stin kupro eisaste koubari?"
and the Cyrpiot guy responds "Kai eseis stin ellada eisaste oli malakes?"

I find it really funny. You have to really understand both sides, in order to understand the joke. If someone needs an explanation...well, i'll post one later. This is my favorite joke.

I think I am going to Paris in June for 5 days.
I am taking my daughter for her 21st.
Where is another country I can go to easily and cheaply by train that wont take too long just for one night? Perhaps a city place?

My best friend is Greek and we live in New Zealand. About 3years ago he moved away and next year I'm moving up to where he lives.

We both like each other more than friends and next year we'll be more than friends.

I'm so scared because I'm not greek. Will his family have a problem with that?

It's going to be such a different way of living. Most of his friends are Greek. I get along with a few of them though.

I've never met his family.

I've tried talking to him about it but he says not to worry. But it's easy for him because he's use to it!

Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I would love to get good websites for travel to amsterdam, and I don't mind waiting last minute. Also seeing as how neither of us has ever been there getting ideas for places to visit will be nice. We will be traveling in early October.
