i'm going in italy and switzerland this summer and i'm thinking of buying an interrail ticket..should i make a reservations for trains i'm planning to go by?and if i should,is there some special way of booking the tickets for travelers with interrail?thx!

In Switzerland, you should for any "special" trains you plan to take, like the Glacier Express or the Golden Pass Panoramic--if you don't, you still have a pretty good chance of finding a seat but not necessarily in the panorama car (which is well worth the extra 10 franks or so). For the Intercities and the other regional trains, I wouldn't (and don't) bother, they're only really full on Sundays in ski season, and not booking gives you the freedom to change your plans. Not all even take reservations.

Italy, I don't know, I have always reserved but that's because I don't live there.

For a night train, definitely book.
