Hello Irmak,
I will explain my thinking one by one.
1) I believe, that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad and that Muhammad is God's final prophet.
In Ramadan, I am trying the fasting.
In Bairam Morning, Definitely, I go to the mosque for praying.
Because I respect the Muslim.
2)When I see a person with cross, I thougt, he or she believes Christian, Catholic. I respect him or her.
3) When I see a woman with headscarf, again I respect her.
Because my mum and my wife's mum are also wearing headscarf.
By the way, are you really 14 years old. ? :-) (Bu Yasta bu Soru :-) )
I liked your question.
Regards

Wow, Irmak, that is a lot of questions in one :) but I will try to keep the answers short:
1- Religion is a need for human soul. We need to believe and trust into a "Superior" about the issues that we can not justify or need comfort.
I believe in Islam but not a fanatic, also believe that it is the best religion since I'm born and raised into it. I wouldn't know what I would be believing if I was born into a -for example- Jewish- family. I think this applies on 90 % of believers of all sorts.
2- When I see a person with a cross, I think he is a conservative Christian, probably a Catholic.
3- When a see a woman with a headscarf, I think she is just a regular woman.. but when I see one with a hijab looking scarf, I think she is a conservative Muslim.
Hope this information helps your survey :)

I am not a Turk, I just wanted to clarify a matter about the cross. When someone wears the cross, he/she is not necessarily a "conservative" or fanatic Christian. The cross is a discreet piece of jewellery, that expresses the christian faith, but in a discreet way. There is no reason not to like it on someone, as it deosn't show fanaticism or anything, as I said, honestly.
Regarding the headscarf, I think it does show some conservative attitude towards religion, in the litteral meaning of the word, because it derives from a very long time ago, when fashion for women of all religions was to wear a scarf. I don't think it is necessary to wear it any more, as it is not considered promiscuous or provocative in modern society to show your hair. However, I respect the choice of some women to wear it, as long as it is their free choice of course. What I think is a pity, is when women feel they have to be completely covered at all times, with long rain coats, especially in the warm climates where we live. I feel that even when it is their choice, this is a way of female oppression by society through religion - nothing to do with Islam, because I know of many Muslim women who dress without being covered like that, and they are not less Muslim than the other one. Especially in Turkey, I think the biggest gift of Ataturk to Turkey was the freedom to wear secular clothes and live in a secular state, and I think Turkish people should honour that - it doesn't mean they are not Muslim.

First of all, I am not religious. I was raised as a Muslim but I do not practise it. I respect anyone who believes in the Supreme Creator, call it God, Allah, Lord whatever.
When I see someone with a cross, for me it means he/she is probably a Christian. Some wear it very large, trying to show it to everyone. Maybe he/she is very religious.
When I see a woman with a covered head, I think she is very conservative. Muslim Turks did not use to do that in the beginning. It started only a couple of hundred years ago. Today most women cover their heads for political reasons. And I don't like it. Religion should be in one's heart, not something you wear on the outside. Whether I believe in God or not is something between me and God. It is wrong to use religion to belittle others who do not believe like you. World history is full of wars that were started because people had different religions. I wonder which religion/book/God tells people to kill others! None!

What's ur opinion on religion, especially Islam?
i believe in God. i am not so keen on religious people which have no tolarance and desire to make a reform.
2. When u see a person with 'cross' on the street, what do u think?
Someone who believes in God and His Son Jesus
3. When u see a woman with headscarf on the street, what do u think?
I dont like it. Coz women make themselves second class by head scarfs... and it shouldnt be a political thing. Ataturk gave them rights and saved them to wear arab clothes. and now the women want it back... that is so stupid...

1. Most important thing in life to me is religion - i am very passionate about it and cant understand why people dont feel the same way as me. - {No i am not a fanatic}
I believe their is no God but Allah and Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him) is the final messenger.
I believe we should be following the sayings/doings of our Prophet in order to be accepted into Paradise.
I believe we should refrain from things such as alcohol, gambling, fornication, drugs and everything else that is harmful and against our religion.
I think people shouldnt just say they are muslim and leave it to that, i think people need to educate themselves.
Ikra - READ!
And i hate the word modern - for some reason people think its moving forward, but not in my eyes. being/acting Modern might make you look like a better person, but not a better muslim.
2. Good on them because they are proud of their religion and not ashamed. They proudly wear the cross, unlike other people who deny their religion.
3.I think of how much good deeds are getting written down in their books for being able to wear the headscarf with pride and without being scared of what people might say or think.
I think of dignity. I think of courage. I think of strength. I think girls/ladies in headscarves are beautiful and inshallah in the near future il be wearing one as well. And i hope Allah will be proud of me.
Nice questions irmak. it would be great to see everyones answers.
(Bring on the thumbs down )
:-)

Irmak, the question is for turks, but i ll reply, because i have studied a lot, and mybe my answer will surprise you, but you know me that i am opened minded.
1)I dont have opinion about any religion. As I have expressed in the past, for me the religions are the opium of the mankind..
All they have the same base, the one God, who ahs always to punish people, and who must always be a man...Even the christians, we believe exactly the same...So, we speak about the same concept, independently if i accept it or not...
2)It is not obbligatory to be a catholic, protestyant or orthodox fanatic to wear cross...Many people as I do, wear it just as jewleery...And I wear it rarely..But just as jwelerry, because i have some peices which are so nice...
What you wear, doesnt mean that you believe it...
3)The scarf, doeasnt surprise me...From the ancient Greece, women were wearing on the head(not so tight)the floulard, and also in the byzantine years...In many vilalges in Greece you ll see it also, not for religious reasons of course..
So, it is not something unknown for me...I told you, the important is to know, to juge without fanatism, and to have studued...
In the churches of the old calendar(orthodox, such as the russians)they wear it and it is obligatory also...
If a woman wears it for religious reasons, i cant understand why this disturbs the others. This person doesnt do anything bad to the society...I always say:Le'ts look the prostitution around us, and let these innocent women wear it, they dont harm anyone, and they express themselves by this way..They feel it, and they are happy with it, why people have to react?
In all the freek traditional costumes there is also, so, it is a tradition, and why people have to surrender to their traditions?
So...People who juge these kind of things, it is better to deal with all the bad things which harms our society, and not with this, which is an expression and doesnt harm anyone.
They use to say that the women with the scarf are bad treated by the nen..
Do you know how many europeans are kicked, and bad treated by the men?And they are not covered...
I hope, my answer is enough for you to understand my opinion.
