when we are abroad, the british are called brits, the australians are called aussies, the scottish are called scots, so why is it deemed so offensive to call a pakistani a paki. it is after all only a shortened version of the real name, just like all the others. this message is not intended to offend, but id like to know why they feel violated, and say we are racist for it. i dont care when im called a BRIT, but if i did care, no one would do anything about it.

I live near S.F. so I would like to be near the strip, not really on the strip (about 15-20 minutes away at the furthest). When down in St Thomas, I'm sure its better to use a taxi due to us "out of towners" not knowing where to go. But I am curious how much do both options cost?
What is the rate of a taxi down there?
Is it worth while to use it instead of renting a vehicle?
