I am travelling on that airline this summer.

How is the in-flight meals? I have a stop over in Philadelphia, but I am connecting to an trans-atlantic flight. Can anyone tell me if the concourses are interconnected or not? Give me some tips on connections. Thanks

O.K. Now, I know that I will be on a Airbus 330-300. Is that a good aircraft?

It's okay, not great, like the other US airlines. The concourse at phl is connected (international in terminal A is connected to domestic at B, C, D)

I fly close to 100 times a year and almost half of that is on USAirways. I have never had any problems with them ever. Their food is OK - not the best for airline food but not the worst either. Usually I just fly them for shorter flights but they're very friendly and reliable. Maybe it's because I'm a frequent flier with them, but I really like USAirways.

The Airbus A330 is a nice aircraft, I like it. And Philadelphia's an OK airport - not the best but far from the worst as well for changing planes.

(Anecdote: A couple years ago, I was flying home to Boston on USAirways during a 2-3 foot snowstorm in the Boston area. Needless to say, they closed the airport here and diverted us to Manchester, NH - an hour's drive away. Due to the weather, they couldn't manage to get chartered buses to get us home, and they put us up in a hotel at the airline's expense. They had a manager who was giving us up-to-the-minute information, and they got us home the next morning. The weather wasn't the airline's fault and they went way above and beyond what they had to do considering the conditions).

Disclaimer: I work in the aviation industry, but not for US Airways.

USAir is going through some problems in Philadelphia, particularly with regard to their baggage handling. They've had a few notable breakdowns this past year in that hub. That being said, just about every airline out there has its problems in one aspect or another.

The concourses are connected in PHL, but there is a shuttle bus between terminals that can end up being faster than walking through the entire airport.

In terms of meals, for coach class service, they are pretty much on-par with everybody else out there- not much is offered on domestic flights anymore. I flew to Paris on USAirways a few months ago, and I do admit that I was quite pleased with the meals I was served, particularly the roast chicken from Paris back to the US. Alcohol will cost you, approximately $5 per drink. If you're a picky eater or a foodie, I'd recommend bringing something onboard with you. I'd make that suggestion on pretty much any carrier for coach class passengers though.

If you want specifics about how USAirways stacks up against other airlines, check out the reports on this website:

http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/atcr07.htm

It will tell you rankings in regards to denied boardings, mishandled bags, ontime performance, and customer complaints.

All of that being said, I quite enjoyed my flights on USAirways. I received very pleasant service in both Philadelphia and in Paris. The aircraft was clean, and the flight attendants very professional.

I just traveled on US Airways from Toronto (YYZ) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) via Charlotte, NC. There sircraft are all very old and the customer service isn't very good at all. Before this, I had always taken United. And after this, I am never going back! When traveling in the US United will always be the best choice or American Airlines

Customer service bites the big one.

They are infamous for not keeping passengers informed at the airport.

The kicker was when I had to tell our waiting flight crew that the gate had changed.

Never had these problems on United or Delta.
